Subaru introduce the new 2013 XV Crosstrek. This European cousin of the Impreza and the Outback was brought over to compete in the small SUV market by U.S. dealers. This All-wheel-drive, 5 speed manual transmission, 2.0-liter flat four that put out 148-horsepower which has a fuel economy of 25 in city and 33 on highway. Compared against the Impreza (25/34) has pretty much the same outcome. Power on Crosstrek is surprisingly sluggest especially when you need that quick burst. The maneuverability of XV is good and the ride is comfortable and firm with just a little bit of road noise.

Pluses of the Subaru Crosstrek and its larger sister Outback include all-wheel-drive, high ground clearance, low center of gravity, and the Eyesight lane departure monitoring system. The big minus: the gasoline engines are disappointing, both in terms of output and in the use of CVT powertrains.
