Nothing special here, just another shot of my campsite during a recent trip to Baja. Some interesting stuff going on in the sky, though! Airglow, three planets...what a view!

Went over my Mother-in-Law's on Sunday to do some outside yard work, visit, fly the drone and go out for dinner.
I got some of the grass and weeds trimmed around the backside of the house and workshop for her.
Got to visit with my Mother-in-Law, and our two friends: Mary & Lisa as well.
I managed to get a drone flight in after the yard work and before we headed out to dinner. Captured three brackets shots that I merged into HDRs and a number of shots that got stitched into a panorama. Also recorded a few video clips.
We went out to dinner at Outback Steakhouse in Oak Ridge, I got a Wedge salad, Sirloin & Grilled Chicken and a Loaded baked potato. We all brought leftovers home to eat.

Darkest skies that I've experienced. Crazy-dark skies. This was from a summer trip to the desert for a little stargazing and IPA-imbibing. The airglow that night was really interesting and structured...I'm not sure why, but after seeing the back of the camera and concentrating on the horizon, I could make out the structures with the naked eye.

Didn't take long to break in my new Forester. About fifteen miles on some Arizona back roads and it looked "normal", with less than 1000 miles driven.
Photographed in the Coronado National Forest, near Parker Canyon Lake.
We went tent camping at Frozen Head State Park from Saturday, April 26th through Monday, April 28th.
Saturday evening we had: Ribeye Steak, Idahoan Mashed Potatoes and canned corn for dinner.
Sunday morning I heated up Banquet Sausage links and Great Value Egg makers. We made Breakfast burritos with some Shredded cheddar cheese and pickled Jalepaños. For lunch, I made Pudgy pies (campfire pizza on white bread; with Pizza sauce, Shredded Mozzarella cheese and Pepperoni slices ). And for dinner we grilled Chicken breast, Shrimp, White onion and Peppers. We made fajitas.
I captured a time-lapse of the charcoal grill heating up (fuel burning off the charcoal briquettes), two slow shutter clips of our campfire and a star trail of the tree canopy and night sky.
Monday morning we packed up our camping gear in the car. Then we hiked from the Panther Run Trailhead up to DeBord Falls and back to our Subaru. Then we drove home!

We were out running errands and I noticed the trees in front of "Fellini" Kroger were blossoming. So I took two iPhone shots from the passenger seat. This is the 2nd photo.

Winter - 11
This Subaru just decided to have it covered with white snow! Is that insane? Or is that just the snow that's making it totally covered on the front side?!?
Anyway, once it's white, it's white! Once it snows, it's covered! Once it's shoveled, the magic of whiteness on the Subaru is gone!
My Mother-in-Law drove us to Knox Max Motors to look and test drive a 2014 Subaru Forester. My wife purchased it and we now have a vehicle once again!

We booked a camp site at Big Ridge State Park for Halloween weekend. We arrived at Camp site No. 31 in the afternoon. Got our site set up and then had Cheese steaks for dinner. Woke up to temps in the 30s with heavy fog. Fog burned off by mid morning. I got out on the Ebike for two bike rides. I had Tea and Scrambled eggs for breakfast. Then I made Grilled Cheese with Ham for lunch. Then for dinner, we made a deconstructed Shepherds pie. It started raining Saturday evening, so we got our Sun shade out of the Subaru and set it up and sat by the campfire. Sunday morning it was still raining. We waited till the rain stopped and then broke down our camp and loaded everything up in the Subaru and headed home.
Stopped at Weigel's for a morning beverage and then stopped at our neighborhood SONIC Drive-In for breakfast and brought it home.

Another photo of Kata Tjuta using Sigma 35mm Art Lens. Thought the photo look small because it was taken far away. But I love the colour when the sun hits the rocks. #NTAustralia
... but you'd better stay on the road (which, by the way, is gravel here, and plowed so the drifting sand doesn't get too deep). White Sands National Park, New Mexico.

Heart of the Sands, White Sands National Park, New Mexico.
Both this huge parking area and the park's Loop Drive (in front of the dunes in the background) are plowed to keep them somewhat free from the wind-blown sands.
While the dunes aren't anywhere near as high as those in Death Valley & Great Sand Dunes National Parks, this Old Guy was sufficiently challenged by the climb to this vantage point.
Hamburger Rock Campground, just outside the entrance to the Needles District in Canyonlands National Park, Utah. It's operated by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).
I stayed here because the campground in the park was full. This was the second night of a ten-day trip. My Subaru Forester didn't stay clean for long, and it also kind of clashes with the rocks here, but it was certainly a scenic setting.
We went weekend tent camping at Indian Boundary Campground in Tellico Plain, Tennessee. Left our house around Noon and arrived at the campground around 4pm (made a few stops along the way; Arby's, Food City, Walmart and Cherohala Skyway Visitor's Center ). We did get some on and off rain late Friday evening and through out Saturday. It cleared up on Sunday before we left to head home. We got lunch at Iron Works Grille and stopped at the Charles Hall Museum & Gift shop before driving home.

2019 Subaru Forester. Car Candid USA Collection. 2019.
2019 SUBARU FORESTER TEST DRIVE REVIEW
Subaru's Forester has been a best seller in the Pacific Northwest for over a decade now. It's easy to understand why with it's good value proposition and all wheel drive layout for our wet roads. How has Subaru improved the Forester for 2019? Well let's find out.
New for 2019, the Forester comes on a shared platform for with many other Subaru products such as the Crosstrek. At a quick glance, the new Forester doesn't look that different, but it is the little changes that show Subaru's changes to the wagon.
I got my hands on a 2019 Subaru Forester 2.5i Sport. The 4 cylinder boxer engine produces 182hp and came with all wheel drive and an as tested price of about $32,000USD. The Sport model seen here is given black accents with an orange stripe that surrounds the car. This same orange accent also carries on inside the cabin.
The first thing noticeable over previous generation Forester's and other Subaru products was the major leap in interior quality. Things didn't feel overly cheap and knobs felt tight and not loose. It was very solid and a big improvement. Subaru's weakness still is within their infotainment system. Subaru Starlink is split between two screens, but the main screen is an 8 inch touch screen that looks crisp, but isn't exactly fast. The program has many built in apps and allows for Apple Car Play and Android Auto.
Cabin materials are a mix of soft rubberized plastics and hard plastics in lower places. Doors seemed firm and solid, but less so with the back doors. Seating room is plenty as this new Subaru gains a bit of space over the older model due to it's extended wheelbase. From seats were equipped with heated seating comfort, perfect for rainy days.
The smaller secondary screen I had mentioned is controlled using the Subaru's steering wheel which is overly cluttered with buttons. Thankfully they are clearly labeled, but when first looking at the wheel, you may be overwhelmed at all the buttons. From this smaller screen you can get basic car information such as temperature, time, safety features, and climate controls. The radio also shares space on this smaller screen which is somewhat of an annoyance if trying to access other things.
This Subaru came quipped with an excellent array of safety features starring Subaru's EyeSight. This includes lane-departure warning, lane keep assist, pre-collision management, auto pre-collision braking, and adaptive cruise control. There is an "X Mode" dial near the shifter which allows the driver to change the setting from normal to other drive modes such as snow, dirt, and mud.
On the steering wheel are two small buttons, one which is "Intelligent mode" and the other is "sport mode." In intelligent mode, the car improves fuel economy. In sport mode the vehicle holds shifts longer, but is certainly nothing engaging.
When driving this Subaru with a CVT, you can't help but feel this car is underpowered. Continuing with Subaru's touchy gas pedal, you get a quick jump by barely pressing the pedal, but any power beyond that initial jump is very weak. The Forester is slow and you have to plan your passes on the freeway. For average city driving it is perfectly fine. Any sporty driving on the back roads is not encouraged as this vehicle is just too heavy and it's little amount over power barely can pull this 3,400 pound vehicle out of corners. The vehicle wallows if going too fast into a corner and there is little to none in terms of driver confidence. At slower speeds handling felt quick. Outside noise was low and the vehicle handled bumps well. Having all wheel drive did provide confidence in the heavy rain I drove through and handled a gravel lane perfectly well.
Overall the 2019 is the best Forester I have driven. They have improved on so many things including better seats and interior quality. There are certainly things that can be improved upon, but nothing stood out as a deal breaker. I can't deny the great value proposition this vehicle makes the case for. It's roomy, comfortable, and looks pretty good. I didn't pay too much attention to the gas mileage, but it is rated at 26 MPG city and 33 MPG Highway, which isn't the best in class. Overall I don't think you can be upset if you bought this vehicle. It does everything you want well and comfortably. Not many other vehicles for this price will have all these safety features and practicality like this new Forester will. It's hard to go wrong.
