if you look at my flickr page too much you will have noticed that this set of photos is no longer called 'expatter'. the whole concept of calling yourself an ex-pat is just soooo vile. everybody else in singapore has to identify themselves by their race, ethnicity, religion or nationality - but if you're white you can call yourself an 'ex-pat'. I just don't know why people stand for it. As I see it, if you call yourself an ex-pat you're basically saying that you are different to other people and implicitly superior. It's a kind of verbal teflon for the society around you. it's just so laughable that in Britain we are utterly fixated on finding ways to make people swear allegiance to our society, learn our language etc, but when abroad we identify ourselves in a way that states that this kind of assimilation is not even up for discussion. the sort of people who call themselves ex-pats are the sort of people who say that Singaporeans like to 'keep to themselves' and 'don't ever invite you out' - *I* wouldn't want these people in my house, so i don't see why Singaporeans should want them either. Anyway this photo features the ex-pat staple - the white shirt. I wear mine buttoned up so as to make myself look as un-expatlike as possible. The dude next to me wants to do the same but he thinks he's too chubby. I think he should just button it up.

Part of the style guide for the Medium brand identity. Web and interactive tech company Coptix as Widgets & Stone to help them rebrand into a creative company named Medium. Widgets & Stone actually proposed a design system for the identity rather than a set identity, this would them to best articulate their brand AND to grow and change int he future.
This manual articulates the concept, the general rules and specific details for implementing brand designs in a cohesive and consistent manner.

4-8 colleagues with different roles a moderator and a minute taker testing procedures of a prototypic product/application by the help of premature paper based or electronic mock ups. The aim is to figure out if the application has the potential to be understood. This evaluation form is relied on documented fundamentals of cognitive science. In addition the application can be tested on the basis of checklists and styleguides.
Logo design. Because Medium is the message, the logo always changes to best adapt to/embody the communications medium being used... We designed 130+ logos for usage.

Today, the first copies of the brand-spanking new Yahoo! Style Guide arrived in the office. Our editor in chief handed out copies to his team and some other folks. Thanks Andi!
So far, I was only able to read a few pages, but it seems to be an awesome resource for everyone writing English copy for the web.
