Thesan (Eos) abducting Kephalos ?
Reconstruction drawing of an Etruscan acroterion from Cerveteri,
now located in Berlin, Antikensammlung
In Etruscan mythology, Thesan was the Etruscan Goddess of the dawn, divination and childbirth (as well as a love-goddess) and was associated with the generation of life. She was identified with the Roman Aurora and Greek Eos.

Some feel that images like the odd grid above the horse is one of many representations of entoptic images in the Lascaux cave paintings in France, which are, maybe 40,000 years old.
Entoptic images are "inside-optical" images. They seem to be 'out there' but are really inside your eyes- like the 'stars' you see when you get a bump on the head.
___
- there are many more such images- such as arrays of dots- at Lascaux.
- some of the other forms are obviously arrows, but what is the odd black form in front of the horse's mouth ?
___
- the brains of the people who painted these images are exactly the same as ours. this was proven from convolution marks, found on the inside of ancient human sculls.
- not surprising that these paintings are as good as anything we can do.
- in other images, the complex curves of the horns of animals are shown in perspective- a very difficult drawing challenge.
___
- there is another sophisticated drawing challenge that is well met in the horse painting: they found a way to make the far legs be farther away than the closer legs (the legs on the right side of the body): the lines indicating the legs on the far side do not meet the body, but stop short. this method is almost sub-consciously used today for the same purpose. geez.
