High key studio session at Caldicot Camera Club

Went to the room of the Photography Society today and stumbled upon a complete studio lighting kit.

The room hadnt been used for a year so this was quite a good find for us.

The room itself is a darkroom with all the chemicals, etc required to process film.

We've tried the lights out and they're pretty awesome.

These images are all about playing with translucency. The fruit has been placed on a piece of glass put between two tressles. A soft box is used to illuminate the fruit from below, with metering for the light, not the fruit.

I have had a lot of fun with these and will now try a few different scenarios.

Wake Forest senior Joe Martinez '06 photographs student writers in the photo studio for the upcoming issue of the Philomathesian on Tuesday, February 14, 2006.

this was taken by Wake Forest University campus photographer Ken Bennett. I met Ken around December, and expressed interest in interning with him during the second semester. He was a little skeptical, but I was persistent, and after taking a look at my portfolio, I became his first intern ever. It was a great experience, and I learned a whole hell of a lot in a short time. My favorite quote from Ken, that I think I'll take with me forever is "Remember, you don't choose photography, it chooses you...and you've got it bad joe." haha, great guy
