For Macro Mondays - M.

Mesh grill for Bose SoundDock.

Speedlight with reflector and grid, blue gel, left. Speedlight with barn doors, red gel, behind and right.

1.2 inches in greatest dimension.

I have shot all of these subjects before, and I am not sure which I prefer for MM...

The last of the lilies from the bouquet.

Strobe with grid, left. Silver reflector, right.

A B&W study for Macro Mondays - Wing.

Speedlight in softbox as rear scrim. Speedlight reflector with grid, left.

This butterfly lives in an Origami bouquet that a good friend made for me, and that I have used several times before.

I tried to get the wings as directly "on edge" as I could. The topic is "wings" - I felt that this shot highlighted the wings, as opposed to other elements in the composition.

The wing span is 2.375 inches.

I was thinking about shooting a film image of my old Nikon FG film camera and took some digital test shots...

I've been wanting to photograph a motorcycle for sometime now. Just needed the right bike and location.

For Macro Mondays - Medications

Hypodermic needle.

Reversed Nikkor EL50 lens, PB-6 bellows. Zerene stacker - 70 subimages at approximately 60µ intervals.

The needle was inserted through a black foam board - the Luer-lock hub end was then illuminated by a speedlight and snoot, with light spilling out the bevel end. (this resulted in a pure oval of light in the bevel...) A small amount of fill light was added from the front right to clarify the subject.

The initial magnification was 3.5x, and the image was cropped. The bevel is 5mm in length - the image is 6mm (0.24 inches) in greatest dimension.

For Macro Mondays - Ring.

A miniature ring from my wife's charm bracelet, commemorating the Junior-Senior Prom of 1965. The background is a detail from the cover of her high school year book.

Speedlight with reflector bowl and grid, feathered lighting, left. Black bounce card, right. Small white reflector card, below left.

The ring charm is 0.5 inches in diameter.

A still life scene based around a typewriter I bought from a second hand store.

A lead crystal decanter lit from above with a Godox MS300 and a Godox projection attachment. I initially tried this shot with a snoot, but I couldn't get the light circle tight enough to get the effect I wanted.

Single speedlight, reflector bowl and grid, with polarizing gel filter, front left. Nikon circular polarizer filter.

Sorry for the late post of the second image - our internet was down for five hours...

Just playing with my food again. Studio lighting done with two speedlights and set for a moody effect.

New I watch and forget.

Thanks M.J.U.

Christmas came early for this stray! He's a non-complainer and is comfortable in our home despite getting the evil eye and growls from Jasmine.

Toyo 45G Nikon 120mm/5.6 1/30s F27. AM*ED Macro Lens. Ilford FP4+ @100. Normal development in Ilfosol 3 @1:9. Scanned with D850.

Strobe bare bulb in soft box, behind - inner diffuser removed. Snoot 45° right front.

I am considering using a portion of this for Macro Monday...

Macro Mondays - Cogwheel

American Waltham Watch Co. Serial No. 24623344 Model 1908. Year of production circa 1924.

Speedlight with snoot right; small white reflector card below and left.

1.19 inches in greatest dimension.

The Polaroid Land Camera Model 900 Electric Eye. This was my father's camera, and it was used heavily during the early 1960s. My most vivid memory is the smell of the "coating" agent that was swabbed over the print (its purpose was to remove developing reagent.) My sister saved this camera from oblivion, and recently gave it to me.

Softbox with egg crate grid, high right. Small amount of fill from white reflector, left.

For Macro Mondays - Anachronism.

Nikon W 150mm/5.6 large format lens on Copal 0 shiutter, mounted on a lens board.

Speedlight with grid left front, silver reflector right, speedlight with snoot directed at shutter dial, and speedlight with diffuser adjacent to back of lens.

Three inches in greatest dimension.

Macro Mondays task #reflection

Happy Macro Mondays folks!

No need to comment on this one.......I'm switching this from private to public for group participation.

From my archives. I like the light here with this model. Thank you for your appreciation, Gail

or should I say... about to do the splits!

I jumped at the chance to take this Sphynx portrait. Very unusual pet and very photogenic.

Had a beautiful schoolday today. Made a lot of photo's. Worked with studiolights(hate them), and made a beautiful high-key photo of a classmate. Don't know if she wants her portrait on Flickr. So I'll post a photo of France, and the early-morning-photography-class of Patrick.

This is what where we stood while making shot below. For a moment the sun was shining on the cross.

Suki was rescued as a kitten at about 11 weeks of age. She is a SIC (standard issue cat) with lovely markings and a warm loving disposition.

She is my daily alarm clock, greeting me every day with attention, affection and excitement but only after she has had the time to thoroughly sniff me with the attention of a TSA agent.

She is the smartest cat I've ever had, learning to sit and stay and what she is allowed on and what is forbidden by nine months old.
