~Spirited Away~

Fuji Instax Mini film, by Mint TL70.

I've wanted to make this recreation for a while. This is a layered collage piece. Almost every detail on it is a different layer which has been colored, dyed, and trimmed to make this cute scene. Made for a Private swap on Swap-bot.

"Howl's Moving Castle" is done with acrylic paint, watercolor, and colored pencil which have been cut and layered in a paper collage which has then been rubber cemented to some Bristol Board to give the cards some strength.

Bento Totoro yawns as he sleeps with other chibi totoro and makkurokurosuke. His bed which you can't see is made out of lotus root, inside his belly is meatballs.

Hi, I wanted to share my latest LEGO Ideas project inspired by Studio Ghibli ☺️

It's full of references to Hayao Miyazaki's most iconic films:

• Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind

• Castle in the Sky

• My Neighbor Totoro

• Kiki's Delivery Service

• Princess Mononoke

• Spirited Away

• Howl's Moving Castle

The build features 10 regular minifigures and consists of approximately 4200 pieces.

You can support it here.

This is a detail of a larger collage piece I worked on with Jared Andrew Schorr. This one of a kind piece will be available exclusively through the supahcute booth (#213) at Designer Con 2013 in Pasadena, CA. See the full piece here - supahcute.com/2013/11/07/the-seven-ages-by-jared-andrew-s...

This awesome Totoro figurine belongs to my friend Tiff, who bought it at the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo.

P.S. I've never seen the film, but I really want to see it now.

Inspired on Gaston Pacheco illustration of “The Secret World of Arrietty”, an animated children’s film from Studio Ghibli.

I have this Totoro keychain for years. But recently I just decided to open it.

This little totoro is just too cute. He's almost identical with the large one www.flickr.com/photos/blacksmithst/4549666135/in/set-7215..., but cominica did improve him a bit. They make him smile, and the way he's holding the umbrella is so much better. The colors are lighter on the keychain. Love every single thing about this Totoro.

And like the large one, this little one also got metal stick for the umbrella. Really nice and consistent from Cominica.

My latest design :D

I am really fond of the Studio Ghibli's productions... these fictive little beings are very hardworking and shy. They appear in the beautiful film "Spirited Away" by H. Miyazaki but also in "My neighbor Totoro"...

I can't resist them !

When Marnie Was There

Going Back to Drawing

+ drawn and painted using CS6 and a Wacom Intuos4 medium

I started this project a few months back. The character is Marnie, from the Studio Ghibli film, When Marnie Was There. This is my interpretation on how she may look like in human form. The scene on the drawing, well, to anyone who has seen it, will know where it is and this was on the 1930's part scene. The drawing has a perspective similar to a photo taken with a 28mm lens. :) On the movie however, she never sat on top of the table, lol. The target print will be A1 and will be printed this week. Thanks for looking.

+ updated highlights and shadows on the door

Totoro & friends...

Me: You look tired, Olive, what's up?

Olive: I've been collecting acorns for my sister Azusa, because she used to be named Acorn and has an acorn pullcharm. And I want to catch a Totoro!

Me; That's nice of you. Good luck with the Totoro, they are hard to catch.

I think these are my final versions of Totoros :D

Not too bad a selection... much better than the Merivale HMV or even the Bayshore HMV, though the Anime Stop store in Nepean obviously has a much better selection of anime than any HMV store in the Ottawa area.

Shoujo fans might notice a title called Lady Oscar... that's the anime, otherwise known as Rose of Versailles, about a female who dresses up as a male to become a soldier in revolutionary era France. It's never been licensed for the English-speaking North American market, but, if you can read French subtitles, that DVD is Region 1 and contains the original Japanese dialogue.
