Photographed in my daughter’s (the teacher) 3rd grade classroom. An “at risk” neighborhood and school. This class has won awards and recognition for outstanding achievement in spite of the very poor encompassing socioeconomic climate. Caught my eye on visit to the school.

Each week a student from Jessie's class is picked and they are the featured student in the class. They will fill out a poster such as this one and it gets hung in the classroom for the week. Each student will draw a picture of the selected student and write some things they learned about him/her. How nice for her that on this important day, she is the one who gets to be the featured student. :)

Anyways pardon the crappy quality of the picture. I had to take a quick snap of it before we got in the car to head to school. There was a lot of backlighting and to make post processing even harder, i post processed this one using my crappy work monitor.

We are so proud of Paxton for making Student of the Week.

Here I am jumping into Heypop and Nana's swimming pool.

Daddy paused his preflight inspection to get the line service technician to take our picture. I threw up on the flight.

April 22 - 27, 2013 DMH Student of the Week is Matt Liberatore. Matt has an enthusiasm for playing and writing piano music. He never misses a lesson and has been a DMH student for over a year. For our recitals and open mic nights, Matt writes original songs as well as arranges his own versions of songs. His love of music shows in his dedication to playing everyday. In addition to piano, Matt plays trumpet in the school band. See Matt's performances on the DMH YouTube channel, ro stop by an open mic, the first Wednesday of each month.

Conner was Student of the Week at his school. What a great little kid.

Matthew was student of the week last week, which isn't an award or anything, but is a way for the class to get to know more about him. He had little projects to do all week, poster about himself, photo album page, etc. One of the tasks was to fill this container with items so the rest of the class could guess how many there were. In this case, they got to eat them afterward, too. We have a lot of satsuma tangerines still on the tree, so this was one way to get rid of them. So, how many are there?

April 29 - May 4, DMH Student of the Week. Victor possesses several exceptional qualities that have allowed for his success in the study of the Violin. The first of these is his diligence. Victor spends much time practicing and preparing the assignments given to him. As a result, he is very prepared for the lesson and is able to advance through the lesson material. Secondly, is his ability to self reflect on his performance. Victor is aware of areas in which he is successful and areas in which he needs improvement. Because he is able to discern areas of improvement, Victor is able to maximize the time he spends practicing. Both of these qualities are of major importance in becoming a successful musician and will be of use to Victor in his continued study.
