1932 Studebaker Route 66
A sign at the monument reads:
You are standing near old Route 66. The line of the roadbed and the telephone poles in front of you mark the path of the famous “Main Street of America” as it passed through Petrified Forest National Park. From Chicago to Los Angeles, this heavily traveled highway was not only a road, it stood as a symbol of opportunity, adventure, and exploration to travelers.

Wayne found me at the tailgate of a 1959 Studebaker pickup. I was staring down the bed into a tire mounted at the back of the cab. The hubcap provided a pleasantly distorted view of the bed of the truck. The lines of the floor and sides of the bed undulated up and down, side to side. I blended in another image of the tailgate and brought its lettering forward. I think the 'S' on the hubcap must have been for Sharon since it had me so mesmerized. Wayne shot while I stared.

For a long time this old Studebaker truck sat near the York Garage along US 6 in Ladora, Iowa. It was not always in the same place, so it appeared it could be moved. The last few times I've driven past I haven't seen it (I took this photo in 2011). The garage itself is also interesting. There is a lighted neon sign on the front, but I have no idea if it is a working business. If anyone knows anything about the business or the truck, please let me know.
One of the stars of the Anglo-American Autumn Classic event at Prescott Speed Hill Climb on 6th October 2019 was this bright orange 1950 Studebaker Commander 854YUP. Prescott is the home of the Bugatti Owners' Club.
The 1934 Studebaker President Land Cruiser was a luxurious, aerodynamic "streamliner" model that was part of Studebaker's top-of-the-line President series and featured a distinctive, streamlined design by Raymond Loewy. It was powered by a 250 cu. in. inline-eight engine producing 110 horsepower and featured advanced design elements for its time, including a built-in trunk and independent front suspension. Although only 201 were initially made, the 1934 President Land Cruiser is now extremely rare, with only a handful of survivors, and is highly sought after by collectors.
