56053 ‘Sir Morgannwg Ganol/ County of Mid Glamorgan’ heads past the 1898-built Barry Docks Offices with an empty coal train from Barry to Tower colliery.

Even though most Welsh coal mines had closed by 1994, residual coal traffic, particularly serving the power station at Aberthaw generated plenty of rail traffic. On this day (unusually busy) Sunday, Aberthaw received 7 trains: 2 from Tower, 4 from Cwmbargoed and 1 from Jersey Marine.

The impressive building, in the baroque revival style, was built to regulate the vast coal traffic that flowed out of Barry in the early 20th century. Prior to the first world war Barry was the busiest coal port in the world. Over 11 million tonnes of coal per year were being shipped through Barry with more than 18,000 employees working the docks.

The building was in good repair in 1994: 10 years earlier a fire had seriously damaged the structure, and the port owner had recently completed an extensive refurbishment. In 2021, the building houses part of the Vale of Glamorgan Council.

Cloister of the Cistercian Monastery of Ferreira de Pantón.

Built in the fifteenth century, Renaissance style, with rectangular plant, it is structured in two bodies: ground floor made of granite with half-point arches with capitals of classic tradition and upper floor combining stone and wood. On one side is preserved the tomb of Countess Fronilde Fernández, lady in charge of the annexation of this monastery to the order of the Cistercian, in the year 1175.

This night photograph was taken over two weeks ago during my recent visit to Shanghai.

The photograph was taken from Waibaidu Bridge, on the West of Huangpu River, looking towards the landmarks in Shanghai Pudong. It was a breezy evening, with blurred reflections of the landmark structures, including the Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower and Shanghai People's Heroes Monument (in red).

Structure Fire this was practice burn by local firemen, they managed to destroy the whole building safely, shot in North Carolina.

Back to when I got to Worthing pier when low tide coincided with the sunset.

Here I made my way out to nearly the end of the pier to capture the only bit of cloud that we had seen that day but the colours of the sky were lovely.

The pier added my foreground interest and the light on the foreground rocks was amazing too.

I have been out shooting some images in the mist this morning including shooting my fave tree near Upper Beeding which will be a monthly project.

The imposing roof structure of the Kolvenburg is bigger than the rest of the building. The wood mainly dates from the construction time in the 16th century. The Kolvenburg has hardly been structurally changed since the end of the 16th century.

Unfortunately I didn't have a tripod with me. Note the Exif data!! A bit shaky, but I still wanted to show it because this roof structure is so impressive!

The picture is from our trip to Morocco in 2019, and it fits well at a time when I'm working on colourful architectural structures. I only recently "discovered" it and processed it.

The structure, 80 meters long and 16 meters high, is made up of some 35,000 wooden planks of all colors.

The ephemeral monumental work of Arne Quinze "The Passenger", erected near the Grand-Place in Mons at the opening of the cultural project "Mons 2015, European Capital of Culture" has been completely dismantled from April 12, 2021.

"For the artist, the void created by the work once removed is an integral part of his artistic approach," said the Mons 2025 Foundation. "The void is like a starting point for a new way of thinking about the way of making our public spaces more diversified ". As announced during its design, the components of "The Passenger" will be recycled: the wood used in the structure will be transformed into paper pulp and the screws will be recovered.
