January 5, 2019 - "Built in 1924 on the traditional site of the Garden of Gethsemane, the Basilica of the Agony enshrines a section of bedrock identified as the place where Jesus prayed alone in the garden on the night of his arrest. Although it is not certain that this is the exact spot, the setting does fit the Gospel description, and the present church, designed by the architect Antonio Barluzzi, rests on the foundations of two earlier shrines: a 12th-century Crusader chapel, abandoned in 1345; and a 4th-century Byzantine basilica, destroyed by the earthquake in 746. (A rock on the way up to the Mount of Olives is mentioned by the Pilgrim of Bordeaux in 333, who identifies it as the place where Judas Iscariot betrayed Jesus.)

The windows in the present church are made from translucent purplish-blue alabaster, which gives an intended dimmed-lighting effect to the interior. Six monolithic columns support 12 cupolas, the insides of which are decorated with mosaic tiles depicting the national emblems of the donor communities. This decoration gave rise to the popular name, "Church of All Nations".

The name Gethsemane is a Greek form of the Hebrew gat shemanim ([olive] oil press). Eight olive trees in the adjoining garden are very ancient. (The dating of olive trees is difficult as they renew both trunk and root structure so that a young- looking tree may in fact have ancient roots).

In the garden is an open altar, placed there by the Franciscan fathers in an ecumenical gesture to the Anglican community, which holds Maundy Thursday services there on the eve of Good Friday." Previous text from the following website: mfa.gov.il/MFA/MFA-Archive/2000/Pages/Jerusalem-%20The%20...

This was one of the main structures in the area. We didn't really do much here, except stage, and get ready for movement towards the hot zone.

The spectacular needle like structure of the Wallace Monument on a high point in the distance. The whole scenery looks superb with houses at a lower level and with hills in the background, and this is the view from the Stirling Castle. The Wallace Monument honors William 'Braveheart' Wallace.

Scotland has a number of castles located all over the region, with the Stirling Castle being one of important ones out of them. It is also a site that attracts a large number of tourists, with the castle being maintained by an entity called Historic Scotland. During the middle ages, when the political history of Scotland was very active, Stirling Castle played a very strategic role. Many of the rulers of Scotland were crowned here, and the castle was also the site of many sieges during political struggles over the centuries. Stirling Castle is located at a very strategic location, atop a high point ensures that the castle overlooked high cliffs, making it easy to defend. It was also overlooking one of the crossings over the River Forth, and hence had strategic importance.

The Castle sits at a site which is supposed to have had some sort of habitation from the 7th century AD, but archaelogical evidence starts out with from around the early 12th century.

During the latter part of the 13th century and the early stages of the 14th century, there was a battle between the Scots and the English, with the English king Edward I of England wanting to ensure his supremacy over Scotland and a war against this effort, with William 'Braveheart' Wallace being one of the most fighters against the English. There was a very famous battle of Stirling Bridge where the English were defeated by William Wallace and Andrew Moray. Over the next 100 years, the castle played a critical role and changed hands many times.

Most of the buildings in the castle were built during the late stages of the 15th century and the end of the 16th century. One of the most famous rules who were crowned here was Mary, Queen of Scots. Her son, James VI, during whose reign the crowns of England and Scotland were unified in 1603, was brought up in Stirling Castle. However, after the unification and the movement of the royal family to London, Stirling Castle lost most of its importance except for the occasional siege and battle and the stay here of Charles II after his father was overthrown and excecuted in London (Charles II was declared as the king in Scotland).

The Castle is now going through a period of restoration, with the Great Hall inside the Castle being recently restored. In the recent past, the parade grounds were used for many functions and performances.

On Scene with the Bridgeport Fire Department with a structure fire at 88 Horace St. Crews were called for a fire in the upper floors of a 2.5 story OMD. The first due engine and truck found the second floor and attic well involved with heavy fire coming out of the second floor porch. A special call was put in for addional engines and the safety officer due to the extent of the fire and the summer heat. The fire was knocked down in about 30 minutes but the structure required extensive overhaul to be sure all of the fire was extinguished. Representatives of the City's Fire Investigation Unit responded to process the scene and interview any and all witnesses to the fire. Though several families and thier pets were displaced no injuries were reported as a result of this fire.

So what is the perfect design for human life?

Believers in Intelligent Design feel that we have been designed, perhaps by a higher being. They're unable to come to terms with the fact that we have many design faults, and are by no means perfect. In many ways, we're a bit of a mess, with less ordered aspects of our anatomy hanging on from previous stages of our evolution.
