This dress was inspired by the designer Mary Katrantzou. Over the summer, I took many photo's of buildings that I thought had an interesting look to them which I then made into drawings, prints, free machine samples and many more. My idea for this dress was to create and illusion of a smaller waist which I feel was successful. Using images of lamp posts I took at LACMA, I distorted the image to give it a little more depth, and I then heat pressed the image onto the fabric with the aid of a subliminal printer.
Along the two sides of the dresses, I free machined drawings of buildings that I thought would add an interesting effect to the garment as a whole.

I thought I'd post more images of these flowers so you can see the differences between it and Queen Anne's Lace, though now I wish I had detailed shots of the latter to post for comparison. QAL grows more straight, I think, and is much more delicate and thin. You can see this is hefty, and it makes lots of umbels. I also noticed that the umbels seem to emerge from these "sleeves" along the stems, and don't recall seeing those on QAL.
