Taken at a park in Vancouver, BC, Canada, on May 15 2013. I rounded a corner and found myself face-to-face with this Barred Owl. After about an hour, the bird spotted a squirrel and went from perch to perch trying to catch it, so I managed to photograph it in many different spots and poses.

This was my favorite one to watch. The Great Grey Owl, is very observant. Many times I stood very close to the great horned owl, and they seemed not to care, but these guys always looked like they were going to attack, and watched your every move. This is also one of the owls that hunts mostly during the day, and is also interesting because he has no visible ears.
