9 - Spirit

Once again I was struggling to find inspiration for the topic this week so I went to my Photos folder and dug out one that was taken in January 2009.

This shot was taken on a soggy and freezing afternoon whilst I was at uni. The guys in yellow and black are from the Portsmouth Destroyers, the seemingly solo guy in blue was the Nose Tackle from Brighton Tsunami. To me it seems unfair that it takes more than one person to stop him! This happened time and time again during the match. Tsunami won 3-0 after a good few hours of splashing around in the mud!

The photo is meant to represent sporting spirit and perseverance but it's perhaps aided by the following quote:

"Perseverance is the hard work you do after you get tired of doing the hard work you already did." - Newt Gingrich

My photos were taken as the sun was going down; so the lighting certainly could have been better.

But that's when I happened to get out to see the mural.

(I don't live in Toronto, and I don't visit there very often.)
