I caught this one about three weeks ago just after a rain storm....in the fog....which you can barely see in the top of the frame.

This is, without question, the time to be on Monte Sano. The leaves, the log, the mossy rocks......all combined to make this a perfect, intimate little setting.

Often in the mountains I hike close to streams, impetuous rivers, without considering them properly because the destination is always far away or, perhaps, the “photographic purpose” seems to be always “something else”, like enchanting sunsets or sunrises, crazy peaks, mystical blue hours or mysterious nights full of stars or moonlight.

Well, it is very difficult to define what the photographic purpose actually is, so much that I have now translated it into a sort of being always ready to capture beauty virtually in everything.

I know that photographing a stream with a slightly long exposure is a cliché, nevertheless when I see the right geometries and the right touch of light I try to do not miss the opportunity :-)

Merry Christmas everyone :)

A little cascade off the side of hte Pinchgut track in North Canterbury. Walked up to a backcountry hut for Christmas eve with a couple of friends and got to spend a very relacxing Christmas morning walking back through some gorgeous manuka forest, tumbling brooks and all that stunning foresty goodness. This is a shot of a short little cascade we walked past - the main falls is probably about 10' ish.. would have required some extreme gardening, so I've gone wide :)

Hope everyone's had a lovely holiday, looking forward to a fantastic 2017!

Wild colours , cascading away

Twirling , swirling on the waves they play

Racing fast, floating slow

Swimming the stream, as they flow

Between the shores, where they shine

In natures cup, a beautiful wine

That eyes watch as they play

On the waves cascading away

This is probably one of my favorites of the day, if not my favorite.

Was looking through some of my old photos and found this shot that I never got to post and will do so now because I have been pretty busy with my examination. I told myself that I would try to remain as active as I could on Flickr and on my photography in order to continue expanding my knowledge and vision of photography.

Many of our local Streams are beginning to fill up from the melting snow in the "high country."

ONLY I WILL REMAIN BY HANS ZIMMER

I found this spot by accident last year when the park was closed. I loved my shots here last year and so it just seemed normal to make this one of the first stops I would make during this years trip. I was here many different times in mid October. I wanted to shoot this scene under different weather and lighting conditions. It was different everytime.
