A prominence at the edge of the sun provided us with a splendid view of solar plasma as it churned and streamed over less than one day (June 25-26, 2017). The charged particles of plasma were being manipulated by strong magnetic forces. When viewed in this wavelength of extreme ultraviolet light, we can trace the movements of the particles. Such occurrences are fairly common but much easier to see when they are near the sun's edge. For a sense of scale, the arch of prominence in the still image has risen up several times the size of Earth. Credit: Solar Dynamics Observatory, NASA.

In the early 21st century Seoul began a massive urban renewal project aimed at increasing 'greenspace'. In October 2005 the first link - the Cheonggye Stream - was opened. The Cheonggye Stream Project restored a paved-over riverbed and lined it with paths. Supporters said it would increase greenspace and moderate heat in the city, though detractors said that some of the most exciting 'real Seoul' neighbourhoods - such as the Cheonggye traditional market - were destroyed as part of the renewal, and that the 'improvements' made the traffic even worse.

There's no doubting the popularity of the Cheonggye Stream - even before the light show gets going in the evening - and there's a permanent display (with sounds) to give visitors an idea of what a royal procession would have been like.

After reaching the peak, networks of streams can be discovered along the slopes of Mt. Mitake. The mountain is breathing with life as the spring season finally gives birth to sleeping trees, giving the mountain a natural green glow.

A re-edit of a photo I took over 15 years ago with my then-new Canon EOS 30D DSLR and its "better" kit lens, the EF-S 17-85mm F/4-5.6 IS USM. Revisiting the image, I made adjustments and applied a lookup table in Luminar 4 then I loaded it into Photoshop for some further tweaking.

Norway. I have just returned from another trip to Norway, again in the far north way above the Arctic Circle, which despite it being winter - predominantly dark and cold - there was a significant lack of snow on the ground...not to worry, the aurora borealis put on a show every night throughout the trip to make up for it. And feed the sleep deprivation!

I traveled down HWY227 on Saturday and photographed the waterfalls along the road. With all our rain I had lots to look at.
