Kurz bevor ich den Strand verließ, habe ich noch diesen grimmig dreinschauenden Kater getroffen. Die zahlreichen Narben signalisierten, dass dieses Kerlchen nicht nur finster guckt, sondern auch keinem Streit aus dem Weg geht. Ich habe es daher nicht drauf ankommen lassen und mich mit Kamera schnell verzogen.

This is the Strand south of the Aldwych looking east to St Mary le Strand church. Most of the shops around it have long gone, leaving this part of the Strand looking pretty sterile compared to the lively, bustling street it was in the 1890s.

Wie man unschwer erkennen kann, wehte ein kaltes Lüftchen und wir konnten nicht wie anderswo gewohnt in Badesachen an den Strand gehen. Dennoch wagten wir es die Füße ins eisige Meerwasser zu stecken. Brrh! Saukalt!
The Strand is one of the only 5 star hotels in the country (I believe) and was in great condition on the inside. I had a tea and relaxed for about an hour (all the cookies you can eat, I stopped after the 3rd plate). No one stays here from what i can tell. The staff said only a few guests were there now...at $500/night I can't see why anyone would...
