Trebarwith Strand (Cornish: Trebervedh Sian) (locally sometimes shortened to The Strand), is a coastal settlement and section of coastline located on the north coast of Cornwall, United Kingdom, 2½ miles (4 km) south of Tintagel. It has 800m of sandy beach, contained by cliffs, in which natural caves are found.
The only vehicle access to the beach is via a dead-end lane running down a narrow valley from the B3263 Tintagel to Camelford road, and parking is extremely limited, particularly in high season. From Tintagel a shortcut is available through the village of Treknow, but this involves a steep descent to the stream at the south end of the village, and a similar climb up from the other side of the stream.
Trebarwith Strand is accessible to walkers along the South West Coast Path from both the north and south. The footpath, running through Access Land, passes boreholes and other remnants of the cliff quarry workings which were in operation in this area from the 15th century up to the beginning of World War II.
We had a few great hours at Palatinus Strand. Most of the swimming pools seemed to have been just renewed.

The first western Ireland beach we visited, Coumeenole Strand. This is apparently a very famous beach that was featured in a movie called Ryan's Daughter. It came out before I was born and I haven't seen it, so I didn't get why people were so excited about the movie, but the beach was gorgeous,.

The Strand Pitt Street Sydney 1891
Designed by English architect John Spencer, 'The Strand' was built in 1891 and was opened in 1892, as the fifth and last of the arcades built in Sydney in the Victorian era. It is the only one remaining in its original form today.
The Arcade was originally known as the 'City Arcade' and sometimes as 'Arcade Street'. In 1981 it was named after the famous London Street that links the City of London and the City of Westminster. The Strand was London's smartest theatre, hotel and shopping street in the early 1900s.
The arcade became run down. During restoration work, a fire broke out on the morning of 25 May 1976. The arcade was partly destroyed. Restoration began again and the arcade, back to its original grandeur, re-opened in 1977
Just to prove that good things can happen when you are a member of Flickr, the editors of the New York Press needed a photograph of this bookstore for this week's article and found this shot of mine taken last Spring. Yesterday, this photograph was published, full-page, in the April 30-May 6, 2008, issue. Click here to read the article on their website.
