The mountains in the Columbia River Valley are very different than the soft, rounded, gentle mountains of the northeast. These mountains just jut up out of nowhere and shoot straight up. The hike involved switching back and forth in order that the slope would not be too steep a climb.

november 18, 2009 - in case you were ever wondering, this is the face of a woman who just spent thirty minutes trying* to teach a violin lesson to a six-year-old BOY in the craziest mood EVER.
*trying is the key word here, folks.
There used to be tennis courts, a small tree covered park and a bus stop here. Now it's just a bulldozer and some snow.
The bus stop is going away, too bad cause it's conveniently located across from Harvest. I hope the courts come back and I really hope the park comes back. Sadly, it will be a few years before any trees mature and the lovely, cool shade returns.
I've always loved the Penshorn Roofing building in the background. I have a thing for mansard roofs.
