Painted during the 17th century, Steen was known for his ability to capture scenes of everyday life with a touch of humor and wit. In this painting, Steen depicts a bustling household filled with various members of a family engaged in different activities. The composition is lively and intricate, presenting a chaotic yet harmonious scene. At the center of the composition, a jovial couple sits at a table, surrounded by their children and other relatives. The scene is filled with laughter, lively conversation, and playful interactions. The family members engage in various activities, such as eating, drinking, playing music, and engaging in games. Steen's use of vibrant colors and intricate brushwork further enhances the joyful atmosphere of the painting.

“I love how, whenever you tell me a story, you go backwards and forwards and tell me everything else that could possibly be happening in every direction, like an explosion. Like a flower blooming.”
― Andrew Smith, Grasshopper Jungle
So much to think about in the past, present and future. Maybe I think about it too much? I smile as a Talking Heads song plays in my mind and remember some lyrics “how did I get here?” - you know the one. A classic Twilight Zone episode also flickers in my mind, Spur of the Moment (S5 E21) - great stuff. Made such an impression on my young mind while watching re-runs in the early ‘80s. A woman is chased by a screaming figure on a dark horse - a warning - I won’t give the rest away. Enjoy your day!
A photo from October of 2022, taken in a beautiful place where there are woods and horse paddocks and farms.
I knew this place thanks to Roby, my friend since high school; now he is no longer here, he completed his earthly passage in a night of this October.
This was the place of Roby's heart. Now it has also become the same for me, cause the feeling takes roots only where you felt good.

I am a lineman for the county
And I drive the main road
Searchin' in the sun for another overload
I hear you singing in the wire
I can hear you through the whine
And the Wichita lineman
Is still on the line
I know I need a small vacation
But it don't look like rain
And if it snows that stretch down south
Won't ever stand the strain
And I need you more than want you
And I want you for all time
And the Wichita lineman
Is still on the line
And I need you more than want you
And I want you for all time
And the Wichita lineman
Is still on the line

The title of this series comes from the remark of my parents' friends when they arrived in Albania, in Tirana, to exclaim: "What are we going to be able to do here, there is nothing to see"…
Part 3 : Vlorë
To properly end the series and cover another city, I took back some images of Vlorë (See: « the last paradise before the end of the world »), but with a different processing to match the color palette of the previous photos.
The 3 last pictures of the series.
i was walking past a laundromat on calle de hortaleza. saw this man and thought: if only he would turn around. and then, at some point, he did.
Nature at its best. This tree looked like it had been blown over in a storm but had secured it branches lower down the hill and carried on growing. Survival of the fittest.
NB: This pic was taken in Knowle Park, Sevenoaks BUT 6 of the 7 Oak trees that gave Sevenoaks its original name were blown down in the Great Storm of 1987. Sevenoaks became just oneoak!!
It reached out its long arms to grab at me. My heart stopped but somehow my legs knew to run. Run far away...
"It was this big!" A male great crested grebe seems to tell a story to a tufted duck in Älta lake, southern Stockholm. April 2024.

I decided to revisit the first image recorded with my camera and make something of it.
Here I added lens blur in Photshop, as well as noise. I then used the black and white channel mixer to create a bit of infrared effect, and added a duotone on top of that. Just trying to create a slightly sideways feeling of reality.
Artist Peter Vermandere, chatting and storytelling with Magda Indigo in the garden at his parent's home in Flanders. He had popped in to pick up a big barbeque and a few other things he needed. We ended up all laughing, talking and drinking beer, as one does in convivial Belgium.
