Detail of the main building at Woolaroc—a wildlife preserve and museum near Bartlesville, Oklahoma that was originally established in 1925 as a retreat for oilman Frank Phillips.

This is about the best I could get at Stonewall Falls in Rabun Co. The sun was out, more than in and when it was in it was only very briefly. It made for a tough time exposing the image. I have not fully decided if I like this shot or not, the composition seems a little off, the falls to me is pushed too far to the right side.

Most of Stonewall Mountain is inside Nellis Air Force Base.
On the way to cooking class I saw this high wall. It made me think of Kaffe Fassett and his amazing fabric designs.

Equestrian statue of Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson on Henry House Hill at the Manassas Battlefield. The battle of First Manassas (First Bull Run) was fought here on 21 July 1861. Jackson received the nickname "Stonewall" when General Barnard Bee (killed shortly thereafter) directed his troops to rally behind Jackson, who was "standing there like a stone wall".

Mo's place was a small liquor / variety store located on HY380, just over 2 miles west of Old Glory, in Stonewall County. I first stopped here in the fall of 2014 after seeing their VERY COOL sign out front, having a life-sized steel vulture perched atop the supporting pole. Revisiting in December of 2019, the business was closed and boarded up, the sign and vulture gone, but the pole still in place. Stopping here this past June I found the lot scraped clean and the only hint that anything had ever been there was this memorial. I don't know what had the place close... bad business (8 miles east of Aspermont with its Allsup's convenience store, and others), or maybe the owners retirement, or death.
The night before my drive out here I decided to do a Google Earth search along HY380 west of Old Glory. From my first visit I remembered that about 200 yards directly behind the building was some kind of oil or gas pumping facility that was creating a dull, deep "thumping" sound... the vibration being felt coming through the ground as I stood by my Jeep. Finding what I thought could be this facility, I tried a "street view" in Google Earth and found this memorial, about 50 yards west of a gate for the Energy Transfer Company's Corsica Compressor Station, an operation that provides pressure for keeping natural gas moving through pipelines.

Starting in Lavita Colorado we drove up towards Cordova Pass on 12 and pulled over to photograph some of the riders on a downhill section of the Stonewall Century ride. This is a 102 mile ride. I like to test my high speed panning skills with cyclists as they wiz by. I ended up with several keepers but this one may be my best.
For those of you interested in the tech side of this; What makes this difficult is keeping predictive focus trained on his head while panning steadily to match his speed in order to keep him sharp at a slow 1/50 sec shutter speed. This will give you a nice blurred background emphasizing his speed.
