"A teu lado me deitei. A ria ofereceu-me um espelho perfeito em todas as dimensões, e para onde quer que me voltasse o brilho do teu olhar me iluminava e seduzia. Neste mundo velho e cinzento a tua cor renovou a minha existência em garridos tons que assim me permitiram sorrir-te em cada hora minha que é tua também.
Ficaste. E assim no calor do dia e na frescura da noite a pureza do teu ser me alimentou de constante felicidade. O céu encheu-se de azul e o horizonte de luz. O tempo deu lugar à esperança que indo-se embora ficou. Como assim ficou a beleza da tua imagem de azul-celeste que eu retive, e retendo-te amei… Amei até ao infinito como amo hoje e amarei. Fineza mais fina, pureza mais pura, prazer mais intenso, intensidade de viver. E vivendo em ti morri porque morrendo na tristeza ressuscitei na mais desejada felicidade.

Sometimes you just have to stop and look at the beauty around you. Off in the distance is my daughter, on the beach at Point Pelee National Park. This dawn sky was so amazing, that time just seemed to stand still for one to take in this sight.

TRANQUILLITÉ
Un silence profond, abyssal succéda à la furieuse tempête de neige qui avait foudroyé la vallée de la rivière, la forêt environnante et notre modeste cabane grinçante.
Ce silence aussi soudain qu’étrange calma mon esprit, comme s’il avait été sous l’emprise d’une Magicienne, d’une Enchanteresse. Une tranquillité absolue qui m’imposa un moment de recueillement, improbable autrement. En moi, une sensation s’imposait de plus en plus nettement: celle de ce lien indicible qui nous unit, nous les êtres vivants, à notre planète, à nos origines, à l’Univers…
…dans un silence profond.

STILLNESS
A deep, abyssal silence followed the furious snowstorm that had struck down the river valley, the surrounding forest and our modest creaking cabin.
This sudden and strange silence calmed my mind, as if it had been under the influence of a Magician, an Enchantress. An absolute tranquility that imposed on me a moment of contemplation, improbable otherwise. In me, a feeling imposed itself more and more clearly: that of this unspeakable bond which unites us, us the living beings, with our planet, with our origins, with the Universe…
…in deep silence.

Finally a little snow to brighten the days
If you decide to travel along this highway into the bowels of the Universe, carry enough fuel to cover the billions of light years ahead of you. You won't find a place to refuel. When you have travelled this distance without finding anything, not even a little bit of intelligent life and you reach the far reaches of the Universe... don't be scared... there's nothing there, either. Only the "nothing". Or since everything is cyclical, perhaps you have returned to the place where you started, full of wisdom from your long trip. It's probably better to look for intelligent life on Earth, but it's also very likely that you'll have a hard time finding it. Don't worry about not understanding the Universe or the reason for its existence... you're not Einstein, but one day you'll understand that... The Universe is wounded, but it still has infinity ahead of it. It still has you and me. Merry Christmas to all and to the infinite Universe that is within you.

Pink Floyd - Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Parts VI–IX
"Shine On You Crazy Diamond", was written as a tribute to Syd Barrett, one of the founders of Pink Floyd. He was also known as "The Crazy Diamond Syd". Barrett was a very creative musician and is considered one of the rock icons, with a strong influence on many artists, very especially to David Bowie. Syd Barrett is a key piece to understand the evolution of rock in the 70s.. Excessive drug use, especially LSD, caused him serious mental health problems. Syd Barrett died in 2006 at the age of 60. Always shine diamond.
The Universal is a science fiction song written as a tribute to two films by film director Stanley Kubrick. In the video, the Blur members wear outfits similar to Alex and his gang of thugs, the protagonists of the movie "A Clockwork Orange." The image used for the cover of the single alluded to what is possibly Kubrick's best film: "2001: To Space Odyssey."
