One of my old art friends Glenn Kennedy painted the ceiling in Mt. Matthew's years ago. The congregation swears he incorporated faces into the clouds, and if I know Glenn there are probably other images among the clouds and stars as well.
Glenn was grandiose. Larger than life. Theatrical. Traveling about with a cape and a cane. Collecting followers and groupies like a cult icon. Or a cult guru. Or a Jim Jones or Charlie Manson. We knew not which. But collect them he did. And he painted them, loved them, shared the Beatles with them and sent them on their way.
Glenn died about a decade ago. His work is slowly disappearing. The murals he painted on the levee system have been painted over. These were not graffiti like scrawlings, but highly technical paintings of Louisiana wildlife correct in every way, painted by a master artist. The faces he painted in the live theater are gone. A few weeks ago I saw one of his nudes. It was hidden in a closet by one of his models.
We are all old now. Some dead, some still creating. And some somewhere in between.

This is a condo on Brickell Key, in fact I think it is the right-hand side one in this shot, although I am not 100% sure now.
I got a pretty stiff neck composing this one, it's manually focussed as I couldn't get focus lock (it was darker than it looks) and I had to "hand-hold" the tripod because it was too far bent back to keep standing on its own.
Get dizzy large on black.

Dear Flickr, sorry for the repetitive-looking photos.... i promise i'll get out of this rut, once i get better and have more energy. feeling a little worse today... i have a stiff neck added on to my throat and head and nose and cough... ugh. i feel blech. and this picture feels blech. well, today, this is as good as its gonna get. i'm missing a whole week of work... i hate that. i need the money. uck. oh, and P.S. this is not my house. (although i wish it was). i'm dog-sitting. maybe tomorrow or the day after, i'll introduce you guys to the dogs. they're the cutest ever. :)

Understanding the Importance of Krebs /TCA Cycle in Our Bodies
IIn 1953, a British scientist, Professor Hans Adolf Krebs won the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine with his discovery that is now called the Krebs Cycle Theory.
The Krebs cycle (TCA Cycle or Citric Acid Cycle) is our body's energy production house and it makes the majority of energy in our body to keep us alive. It is essential and without it we would not exist.
According to Krebs theory, the starch and sugar in the food we eat is converted into glucose, the fats are converted into fatty acids, and the protein in meat and beans is converted into more than 20 types of amino acids. All these nutrients must be combined with acetic acid (from vinegar) before they can enter the citric acid cycle. In this citric acid cycle, these nutrients are converted into energy (adenosine triphosphate, ATP) that can be utilised by the body. During the conversion process, the food is continuously converted into citric acid, which is then converted into cis-Acotinate, isocitrate, a -ketoglutarate, succinate, fumarate, malate and oxaloacetate. The cycle repeats itself when the acids are converted back to citric acid.
Maintaining this Krebs Cycle is very important, but the cycle cannot function properly if the body is tired or restricted by an improper diet. When the nutrients are not fully synthesised, the incomplete combustion residue will be converted into pyruvate, which will break down into lactic acid when exposed to hydrogen ion. The accumulation of lactic acid in the body results in muscle aches, pain in the nerves and lethargy. The accumulation of lactic acid in the blood stream results in an acidic body.

I owe the need for this this inflatable traction rig to Flickr. I love this photograph for a couple of reasons:
1) The sunset's Golden Hour colours.
2) the splash of heliograph on the nose
3) the shadow of the crossing lights on the back of the cab
4) The reflection of the oak tree branches in the cab windows
5) I successfully airbrushed/processed out a huge telephone pole that was making the whole thing look weird.

This is Gainsborough's Market place, I believe in 1946, and this huge line of kids is queing to get into the "Saturday Club" - a cheap morning showing of cartoons, "Buck Rogers" and the like - at the Gaumont cinema (now the site of the Lindsey Centre.
Close to the cinema is Hinds bakery, and the kids would spend some of their precious money on an iced bun to eat during the cinema show - though I am told that as soon as the lights went down, the buns became missiles to throw around the auditorium at your friends, much to the chagrin of "Stiffneck", the commisioner. I'm not sure, but one of the chaps in the uniforms is probably Stiffneck (Real name Frank Barlow).
Also on view in this pictue is Bomer's Waterloo House and the National Provincial bank.
I believe this photo dates from 1946 or possibly '47.
