I'm stampolina and I love to take photos of stamps. Thanks for visiting this pages on flickr.
I'm neither a typical collector of stamps, nor a stamp dealer. I'm only a stamp photograph. I'm fascinated of the fine close-up structures which are hidden in this small stamp-pictures. Please don't ask of the worth of these stamps - the most ones have a worth of a few cents or still less.
By the way, I wanna say thank you to all flickr users who have sent me stamps! Great! Thank you! Someone sent me 3 or 5 stamps, another one sent me more than 20 stamps in a letter. It's everytime a great surprise for me and I'm everytime happy to get letters with stamps inside from you!

Den Vergleich mit der SX50 hat sie überwunden, wenn auch nur mit RAW-File!
Ein Quantensprung seit der Vorstellung der Canon Powershot SX1 von 2009.
Im Super-macro-modus (f/2,8), Foliage Modus für natürliche Farben und Sonneuntergang Modus ist die SX1 allerdings immer noch super!
weitreichenden Dioptrienausgleich: -6.0 bis +2.0 dpt (SX1)

hearts′ empath ♥ brick-red ♥ brecciated jasper (aka poppy jasper) puffed in the shape of a heart-symbol was 'empathed', i.e. overdubbed & admixed with a 2nd tricolor broken - heart - festoon by means of the scanning process.
The object was scanned in the middle of the night with all lights switched off - nevertheless the 'empath' of the halogen - scanner - light glitched an interesting (but somehow embarassing) oranje-wit-blauw halo (aka the prince's flag in the Netherlands) festoon onto the grinded surface.
Obviously the macroscopic, black hematite-Schlieren became admixtures to the igneous extrusive jasper during the sublimation-process of the lava.
The Tricolour of The Netherlands is the oldest tricolour, first appearing in 1572 as the Prince's Flag in orange–white–blue. Soon the more famous red–white–blue began appearing — it is however unknown why, though many stories are known. After 1630 the red–white–blue was the most commonly seen flag. The Dutch Tricolour has inspired many flags but most notably those of Russia, India, New York City, and France, which spread the tricolour concept even further. The Flag of the Netherlands is also the only flag in the world that is adapted for some uses, when the occasion has a connection to the royal house of the Netherlands an orange ribbon is added.(wikipedia).
JASPER as a TRIGONAL crystal-system
► MINERAL Ein Mineral ist ein Element oder eine chemische Verbindung welche normal kristallin ist und welche als Resultat eines geologischen Prozesses gebildet wurde.
JASPIS als eine Varietät von Chalcedon (Varietät des Mineral Quarz [SiO2 = silicon dioxide, trigonales Kristallsystem in rhomboedrischer Aufstellung]) stellt kein eigenständiges Mineral dar, sondern ist eine dichte, lichtundurchlässige, mikrokristalline Varietät, normalerweise rot, braun oder gelb und durch Oxide des Eisens gefärbt.
► Silex (Roter Jaspis) - Farbe Ziegelrot bis Braunrot. Zu ihm zählt auch der rote Brekzien-Jaspis. Die Farbe entsteht hier durch Eisenoxid aus überwiegend dreiwertigem Eisen.

Poppy Jasper is a poppy-patterned variety of orbicular jasper originating in South Africa. In medieval times, warriors often carried poppy jasper in belief it would bring them courage in the heat of oncoming battle. It belongs to the quartz group and is a brecciated jasper, composed of approximately 20% extraneous materials due to the gaps left between dry, iron enriched clay when the rock is first formed.
While poppy jasper is often multi-colored due to foreign deposits, it still is predominately red, black and gray in appearance. The black and gray often act to form a sort of background behind "blooms" of red-orange color that distinctly resemble that of a poppy plant, hence the name.
Residents of the U.S. may find this particular form of jasper in Morgan Hill, California. It is considered a rare stone and is well sought-after collectible by gem connoisseurs at a going rate of $20-30/lb.

Er vertrieb nach seiner Thronbesteigung seine Brüder, welche daraufhin die Libyer um Kyrene aufwiegelten, bei Leukon lockten sie ihn in einen Hinterhalt, wobei er 7000 Hopliten verlor. Kurz daraufhin verübte sein mit ihm verfehdeter Bruder Laarchos ein Attentat auf ihn; seine Witwe rächte ihn jedoch wenig später (Hdt. 4, 160, Plut.mul.virt. 260 E ff. S. Mazzarino Fra Oriente e Occidente 1947, 153, 313-317). Trotz seiner kurzen Herrschaft (565/60-555/50) haben Künstler und Dichter ihm gehuldigt: Eugammon von Kyrene widmete ihm sein Epos 'Telegonia', die Arkesilaos-Schale stellt ihn bei der Beaufsichtigung des Verladens Exportartikels Silphion dar.

Silphium (also known as silphion or laser) was a plant of the genus Ferula. Generally considered to be an extinct "giant fennel" (although some claim that the plant is really Ferula tingitana), it once formed the crux of trade from the ancient city of Cyrene for its use as a rich seasoning and as a medicine. It was so critical to the Cyrenian economy that most of their coins bore a picture of the plant.
Silphium was an important species as evidenced by the Egyptians and Knossos Minoans developing a specific glyph to represent the Silphium plant.
The valuable product was the resin (laser, laserpicium, or lasarpicium) of the plant. It was harvested in a manner similar to asafoetida, a plant with similar enough qualities to silphium that Romans, including the geographer Strabo, used the same word to describe both.
Aside from its uses in Greco-Roman cooking (as in recipes by Apicius), many medical uses were ascribed to the plant. It was said that it could be used to treat cough, sore throat, fever, indigestion, aches and pains, warts, and all kinds of maladies. Chief among its medical uses, according to Pliny the Elder, was its role as an herbal contraceptive. Given that many species in the parsley family have estrogenic properties, and some (such as wild carrot) have been found to work as an abortifacient, it is quite possible that the plant was pharmacologically active in the prevention or termination of pregnancy. Legend said that it was a gift from the god Apollo. It was used widely by most ancient Mediterranean cultures; the Romans considered it "worth its weight in denarii."
Connection with the heart symbol
There has been some speculation about the connection between silphium and the traditional heart shape (♥). The symbol is remarkably similar to the Egyptian "heart soul" (ib). The sexual nature of that concept, combined with the widespread use of silphium in ancient Egypt for birth control, and the fact that the seeds of silphium are shaped like a heart as shown in the left illustration, leads to speculation that the character for ib may have been derived from the shape of the silphium seed.
Contemporaneous writings help tie silphium to sexuality and love, as laserpicium makes an appearance in a poem (Catullus 7) of Catullus to his lover Lesbia. As well as in Pausanias' Description of Greece in which he says "For it so happened that his maiden daughter was living in it. By the next day this maiden and all her girlish apparel had disappeared, and in the room were found images of the Dioscuri, a table, and silphium upon it."

In an article published in the American Chemical Society's Journal of Natural Products, the researchers said the compounds "may serve as promising lead components for new drug development" against this type of flu. contraceptive/abortifacient - Asafoetida has also been reported to have contraceptive/abortifacient activity, and is related (and considered an inferior substitute to) the ancient Ferula species Silphium. antiepileptic - Asafoetida oleo-gum-resin has been reported to be antiepileptic in classical Unani as well as ethnobotanical literature.
HUNTING apps (bait): John C Duval reported in 1936 that the odor of asafoetida is attractive to the wolf, a matter of common knowledge, he says, along the Texas/Mexico border. It is also used as one of several possible scent baits, most notably for catfish and pike.
MAGICK apps: In Jamaica, asafoetida is traditionally applied to a baby's anterior fontanel (Jamaican patois "mole") in order to prevent spirits (Jamaican patois "duppies") from entering the baby through the fontanel. In the African-American Hoodoo tradition, asafoetida is used in magic spells as it is believed to have the power both to protect and to curse. In ceremonial magick especially from The Key of Solomon the King, it is used to protect the magus from daemonic forces and to evoke the same and bind them.

Entsprechend war Asant vorwiegend als Nerven- und Beruhigungsmittel sowie als gastrointestinales Spasmolytikum verbreitet. ► Did the ancient Romans use a natural herb for birth control? The Roman scholar Pliny the Elder described use of the resin "with soft wool as a pessary to promote the menstrual discharge." If taken as ancient writers claimed, silphium might have worked as a monthly morning-after pill. Other items touted as contraceptives in antiquity include wild carrot (a silphium relative also known as Queen Anne's lace), pennyroyal, and pomegranate. In small doses many of these are known to stimulate menstrual flow, just as silphium is supposed to have done.
Whether it was effective or not, silphium certainly was a popular plant. Almost impossible to cultivate, it became the main source of economic power for Cyrene, a Greek colony in what's now Libya, where it grew wild.
Nonetheless, by the end of the first century AD silphium was no more. The last pieces of this aphrodisiac plant were reputedly consumed by the dying emperor Nero: "Qualis artifex pereo!"
After silphium disappeared, asafetida was used as a replacement, imported from what are now Iran, Iraq, and Syria. Already used by the poor because it was cheaper and more plentiful than silphium, asafetida was considered inferior from both a culinary and medicinal standpoint.

BRACKEN HOUSE
This building (1955-1959) is named after Bernard Bracken, former chairman of the Financial Times, which was published here until the 1980s. The building was among the first post-war buildings in the City to be listed and its redevelopment retained the entire outside facade, including the elegant astronomical clock approximately 1 metre in diameter bearing at its centre a face of Winston Churchill, a personal friend of Bernard Bracken.
The work of Philip Bentham in gilt metal and enamel, it has echoes of the formality and sophistication of a dial. Embellished with Roman numerals, it depicts months of the year, signs of the zodiac and a sunburst motif.

Stöffler: Johannes St., von Justingen, geboren am 10. December 1452, † am 16. Februar 1531 zu Blaubeuren, berühmter Mathematiker, Astronom und Astrologe. — Aus demselben Dorfe Justingen (tgl. württembergisches Oberamt Münsingen) stammend, wie der Humanist Heinrich Bebel und die beiden Vergenhanse (Naucleros), ist er möglicherweise mit den letzteren verwandt. Am 21. April 1472 wurde er an der Universität Ingolstadt immatriculirt. Er hat später dieselbe als eine "herrliche Hochschule" bezeichnet, die ihm in den freien Künsten eine süße Mutter gewesen sei. Es ist ungewiß, wann er die Pfarrei Justingen bekam, doch scheint ihn der Besitz der Pfründe nicht dauernd an Justingen gebunden zu haben. 1496 stellte er in Konstanz eine Uhr im dortigen Münster auf; 1499 ist er in Ulm u. s. w. Seine Gelehrsamkeit verschaffte ihm viele Freunde, darunter Gelehrte vom höchsten Rufe, wie z. B. Johannes Reuchlin; auch wurde er von wißbegierigen Männern in seinem entlegenen Pfarrdorfe aufgesucht, so z. B. von Paul Scriptoris und Konrad Pellican im J. 1499. Auch mit Johann v. Dalberg, dem kurpfälzischen Kanzler und Bischof von Worms, dem berühmten Gönner der Humanisten, stand er in freundschaftlicher Verbindung. Er fertigte für diesen einen Himmelsglobus und hat den gefeierten Mäcenas in seinem Schlosse zu Ladenburg aufgesucht. Auf Wunsch des Herzogs Ulrich von Württemberg übernahm er 1511, schon 59 Jahre alt, die Professur der Mathematik an der Hochschule Tübingen. Die Vertreibung des Herzogs, der sich für seinen Gehalt verbürgt hatte, brachte dem betagten Gelehrten schlimme Zeiten, weil er die ihm von der Pfarrei Justingen zugesicherten 90 Gulden nicht mehr ausbezahlt bekam. Der Rechtshandel darüber beschäftigte sogar den Erzherzog Ferdinand, der in Abwesenheit des Herzogs Ulrich Württemberg verwaltete. Die Pest vertrieb St. im J. 1530 mit einem Theil der Hochschule aus Tübingen nach Blaubeuren, wo er auch gestorben ist. Begraben wurde er in der St. Georgenkirche zu Tübingen.
Die Blüthezeit seiner akademischen Thätigkeit fällt vor 1519, während|welcher Zeit (von 1512—1518) auch Philipp Melanchthon sein Schüler war. Dieser hat tiefe Eindrücke von dem großen Gelehrten empfangen, und der astrologische Wahnglaube, dem Melanchthon sein ganzes Leben huldigte, dürfte auf St. zurückzuführen sein. Zwischen beiden Männern hat sich trotz der großen Altersverschiedenheit rasch ein pietätvolles Verhältniß entwickelt. Schon 1513 begleitete Melanchthon eine Schrift Stöffler's mit empfehlenden Versen, und die erste erhaltene Rede Melanchthon's: De artibus liberalibus ist St. gewidmet. Noch in späteren Jahren pflegte Melanchthon in seinen Vorlesungen Aussprüche und Anekdoten des verehrten Tübinger Gelehrten zu erzählen.
Von seinen jetzt selten gewordenen Schriften mögen folgende genannt werden: "Almanach nova plurimis annis venturis inservientia: per Joannem Stöfflerinum Justingensem et Jacobum Pflaumen Ulmensem accuratissime supputata etc." (Ulm 1499); "Tabulae astronomicae. Verarum mediarumque coniunctionum et oppositionum Solis et Lunae etc." (Tübingen 1514); "Elucidatio fabricae ususque astrolabii etc." (Oppenheim 1513); "Calendarium magnum Romanum" (Oppenheim 1518); "Expurgatio adversus divinationum XXIII anni suspitiones etc." (Tübingen (1523); "Ephemeridum opus etc." (Tübingen 1531). Erst nach dem Tode des Verfassers erschienen, bildet die Fortsetzung der Almanach nova. "In Procli Diadochi autoris gravissimi sphaeram mundi etc. Commentarius" (Tübingen 1534). Diese Schrift wurde von L. Schrader herausgegeben. Nicht gedruckt wurden seine "Commentaria in Ptolemaei libros geographicos", die zum Theil verbrannt sind. Die zwei erhaltenen Bücher der Handschrift befinden sich auf der Tübinger Universitätsbibliothek. Es werden noch weitere Schriften Stöffler's genannt, z. B. auch von Vossius, von denen jedoch zweifelhaft ist, ob sie wirklich erschienen sind.
Ziemliches Unheil stiftete St. durch seine astrologischen Träumereien an, indem er auf das J. 1524 eine neue Sintflut prophezeite, wodurch sich manche Menschen zu thörichten Handlungen verleiten ließen. Obgleich statt der Sintflut eine große Trockenheit eintrat, scheint er doch nichts an Ansehen eingebüßt zu haben. Zur Kalenderverbesserung machte er elf Vorschläge. Aber auch als Kosmograph und Mechaniker war er ausgezeichnet; heute noch besitzt die Gymnasialbibliothek zu Konstanz einen merkwürdigen Globus coelestis, welchen St. für den Weihbischof Daniel von Konstanz verfertigt hat. Der zweite Teil des Werks enthält den eigentlichen Kalender und Tabellen in Rot- und Schwarzdruck, darin 24 kleine quadratische Stadtansichten, 12 Kalenderholzschnitte mit landwirtschaftlichen Tätigkeiten eines jeden Monats sowie 12 runde, in den Rand gedruckte, Holzschnitte mit den Tierkreiszeichen. Am Schluß befinden sich 4 zweifarbige blattgroße Holzschnitte mit astronomischen Instrumenten, die in einigen Exemplaren herausgenommen und als drehbare Teile beigelegt wurden. Mit zahlreichen zeitgenössischen Randnotizen und Figuren in roter Tinte.

1507 wurde der gelehrte Pfarrer und Instrumentenbauer Johannes Stöffler von Herzog Ulrich von Württemberg als erster Astronomielehrer an die Landesuniversität Tübingen
berufen. Stöffler wurde durch seine astronomisch berechneten Kalender und Tabellen, Uhren und Himmelsgloben weithin bekannt, die u.a auch von Nikolaus Kopernikus genutzt wurden.
1511 baute Stöffler eine astronomische Uhr für das Tübinger Rathaus.
Die aus der Reformation hervorgegangenen Kirchen verzögerten die Annahme aus ideologischen Gründen, denn die Reform war vom Papst ausgegangen.
Papst Gregor war auch Astronom.
Der heute weltweit verbreitete gregorianische Kalender (benannt nach Papst Gregor XIII.) entstand Ende des 16. Jahrhunderts durch eine Reform des julianischen Kalenders und wurde 1582 mit der päpstlichen Bulle Inter gravissimas verordnet. Er löste im Laufe der Zeit sowohl den julianischen als auch zahlreiche andere Kalender ab. Die letzte Umstellung auf den gregorianischen Kalender erfolgte 1949 in China.

Johannes Stöffler (10 décembre 1452, probablement à Blaubeuren ou Justingen – 16 février 1531 à Blaubeuren) était un mathématicien, astronome, fabricant d'instruments astronomiques, astrologue et prêtre allemand. Il était professeur à l'université de Tübingen.

Neben seinen kirchlichen Pflichten beschäftigte sich Stöffler mit der Astronomie und Astrologie sowie der Herstellung astronomischer Instrumente, Globen und Uhren, wozu er sich im Pfarrhaus auch eine Werkstatt einrichtete. Mit seinen Erzeugnissen erwarb er sich schnell einen Ruf. So erhielt er einen Auftrag des Konstanzer Weihbischofs für einen Himmelsglobus, sein erstes bedeutendes Werk, den er 1493 anfertigte. Seine in mehreren Auflagen erschienene Schrift Elucidatio fabricae ususque astrolabii galt bei Astronomen und Feldmesser lange Zeit als Standardwerk.
Zu seinen bekanntesten Schülern zählen Philipp Melanchthon und Sebastian Münster.

Auch wenn man es uns nicht ansieht, so sind Pepi und ich doch Zwillinge. Mindestens im Geiste, aber auch im Sternzeichen. So feiern wir beide in den ersten Juni-Tagen unseren Geburtstag. Und was könnte für uns schöner sein, als uns mit unseren Frauen bei einem urigen Heurigen bzw. einer bodenständigen Osmiza gegenseitig mit einem guten Glas Wein zuzuprosten. So wie hier mit einem Glas Malvasia bei der Osmiza Na Púnkišči von Paulo in Malchina oberhalb von Duino an der nordost-italienischen Küste des Adriatischen Meers. Auf unser und Euer Wohl !

Weil ich in letzter Zeit auf viele Wappen gestoßen bin, reifte in mir die Idee für persönliche Wappen für Ursula und mich, die natürlich nur sogenannte Fantasiewappen darstellen und keinen echten historischen Bezug haben. So entstand der Entwurf für mein (Rudis) Wappen, den ich wie folgt beschreibe. Ein längsgeteiltes Schild, auf dessen linker Seite ein himmel-blauer Grund mit goldenem Rahmen ringsum. Darin ein goldener Wolfskopf mit einer goldenen Krone darüber, die gemeinsam die Worte "Ruhm" und "Wolf" symbolisieren, welche zusammengesetzt die mittelhochdeutsche Bezeichnung für den heutigen Vornamen Rudolf bedeuten. Auf der rechten Schildhälfte ein goldener Grund mit himmel-blauem Rahmen ringsum. Darin ein blauer Wolfskopf mit einer blauen Krone darüber, die gemeinsam ebenfalls die Worte "Ruhm" und "Wolf" symbolisieren, welche zusammengesetzt die mittelhochdeutsche Bezeichnung für den heutigen Vornamen Rudolf bedeuten. Die Spiegelung und Invertierung der beiden Schildhälften symbolisiert das Sternzeichen Zwilling, dessen allgemein zugeschriebene Eigenschaften mich sehr treffend charakterisieren. Die vorherrschenden Farben gold und blau symbolisieren die materielle Welt mit ihrem edelsten Metall und die immaterielle Welt mit der Farbe des Himmels-Äthers, welchen ich beiden sehr verbunden bin. Die Zier bzw. Decke des Wappens bilden mittig angeordnete blaue und goldene Straußenfedern.
