Stellendam - On Saturday 7 July 2018, Flag Day took place in Stellendam. Flag Day Stellendam 2018 was dedicated to the Goereese Fishing Fleet, fishermen and of course: fish!
One of the highlights of the day was the "Vlootschouw (fleet view)". Under the leadership of the Flagship, the Goereese fleet sailed out at 2.30 pm for a trip on the Haringvliet. During the trip, the Fleet Admiral took off the "Vlootschouw (fleet view)" from the Flagship GO-23 Cornelis Jannetje.

I shot this image with the Canon crop camera R10 and kitlens. I wrote an article for DigifotoPro about this small and leight camera. On hiking trips this will be my new best friend.

Een gedeelte van de Koningin Julianaweg in Middelharnis, ter hoogte van het Gemeentehuis en enkele scholen, is ingericht volgens het "Shared Space"-principe. Dit gedeelte wordt gemarkeerd door middel van toegangspoorten.
Connexxion 5911, afkomstig uit Rotterdam, verlaat het "Shared Space"-gedeelte op weg naar het centrum van Middelharnis en verder naar Dirksland en Stellendam.

The former municipality of Goeree also includes the communities of, from west to east, Ouddorp, Goedereede (with Havenhoofd), Oostdijk, and Stellendam.
The Brouwersdam is a dam, part of the Delta Works, from the island Goeree-Overflakkee to Schouwen-Duiveland, in Zeeland. The Haringvlietsluizen are floodgates, also part of the Delta Works, from Goedereede to the border of Westvoorne and Hellevoetsluis on the island of Voorne-Putten.
Income consists mainly of tourism and fishery. Because of the extended beach close by, Ouddorp has a large number of camping grounds. Ouddorp, Goedereede and Stellendam have all an extended fishing fleet.

De Kwade Hoek [Evil Corner] is a nature reserve located in the head of the island of Goeree-Overflakkee, directly south of Maasvlakte. The name refers to the treacherous currents and shoals in which many ships have perished.

Eurasian Oystercatcher, Haematopus ostralegus, Scholekster
I was lying on the wet beach at low tide, photographing these shy oystercatchers. One bird kept foraging about a meter behind the other, and I liked the visual effect of having one oystercatcher sharp while the second fades softly out of focus in the background.

European Stonechat, Saxicola rubicola, Roodborsttapuit
Photographed in the dunes of Goeree on the island Goeree-Overflakkee (South-Holland, The Netherlands) near the North Sea. There was a mix of male, female and juvenile European Stonechats flying around, resting on branches.

Wegens technische problemen en de complexe wet- en regelgeving rondom het rijden van waterstofbussen met aanhangers duurde het lang maar nu is regelmatig een waterstofbus te zien op R-net lijn 436 van Rotterdam Zuidplein naar Stellendam en Ouddorp op Goeree-Overflakkee. De opslagtanks voor de waterstof en de techniek om deze om te zetten in elektriciteit bevinden zich in de één-assige aanhanger.
Connexxion 2001 arriveert op het busstation van Stellendam en zal direct weer terug rijden naar Rotterdam..

Due to technical problems and the complex Dutch regulations on hydrogen buses with trailers it took a long time, but now these buses can regularly be seen on R-net route 436 from Rotterdam to Stellendam and Ouddorp. The storage tanks for the hydrogen and the technics to convert it into electricity are in the one-axle trailer.
Connexxion 2001 arrives at Stellendam Busstation and will return back to Rotterdam immediately.
