Midnight madness at Jaipur Bridge

One from the archives that has never seen the light of day - literally & figuratively. I have never posted any from this night. It was some fun light painting on the jetty at Long Jetty with steel wool spinning with the local instagram group. A nice finish to a day that started just after sunrise and visiting many different beaches and lakes on the coast. Steel wool spinning was a bit of a craze at the time but was my one and only attempt and a lot of fun.

For Smile on Saturday

Happy Saturday all :))))

Hang em High! Rope em tie em Brand Em, don't try to understand them.

This night had expert Steel Wool Spinners, Mitch Popilchak, and Kevin Cripps, lead the tour and spin the wool, all we had to do was take the shots

My eldest daughter and I went out to a lovely restaurant last night; 'Heavenly Desserts', and as you can probably imagine, it's a place that serve only desserts! All I can say is, WOW. Just, WOW!

Straight after, we then decided to drive to our favourite jaunt, at Dovedale, and took to some steel-wool-spinning (as you do)...

Impulsive? Perhaps.

Fun? Absolutely!

Personally, I blame the ice-cream-chocolate-sugar-overload!

the Sparks were flying as many talented photographers and spinning wool burners met for a tour de force at Elbow Falls. The sparks were literally strobing and staying lit in the air during this spin by Dylan Waldron

The atmosphere is amazing bright stars and burning steel wool beside a mountain stream

Playing With Fire: Steel Wool Spinning in Portobello Beach

So, I haven't spun wool in a long time!

The person behind the sparks is my friend Brian, who has recently taken up photography himself; a true engineer, who created a drill-bit, specifically to spin wool at both ends! He attaches the device to his Makita drill, and you can just imagine the sheer velocity these sparks fly out!

Another shot from my evening steel wool spinning at Waverley Abbey near Farnham. The guy doing the spinning is very practiced- hence such a neat spin!

This is a story of a desperate man. Old Stan gave his soul to the Bogeyman to cross through Mean Time Machine aka Tunnel of Love. They made agreement & they signed contract in blood, when he cross the Tunnel of Love he would get his youth back and Stan would have chance to save his sweetheart Anne that died in a fire accident.

Before few weeks city put lights inside this tunnel and they killed mystic atmosphere in this tunnel. I am happy that I photograph it without strong lights.

I took little bit inspiration from a movie Faust directed by Aleksandr Sokurov but my story is completely different.

This photo was made in early beginning of corona crisis at 7th april about 23 pm and midnight to avoid people or maybe even police because steel wool attract attention. I remember that one boy drive a bike about 23 p.m. he was very surprised when he saw so many lights, he asked me: "Can I pass..." I told him: "Of course you can".

P.s. I recommend you songs: Lizzy Borden - Deal With The Devil, Dire Straits - Tunnel Of Love, AC/DC - Boogie Man, Yngwie Malmsteen- Bogeyman, Black Sabbath - Time Machine.

Have you ever tryed steel wool photography? I don't have much experience in steel wool photography but I will probably do more of this type of photography (it is fun). It is difficult to find someone to assist so I did everything by myself (spinning steel wool + photographing). Location is awesome abandon church with a tower at little place Kožino near Zadar (Croatia). Local people call this church Kulina (probably from word kula = tower) but official name is crkva sv. Bartola (church of st. Bartholomew). Church is build in 12th century. I am not sure was the tower been used as protection from Republic of Venice (I couldn't find this information).

* The buses rarely drive to place Kožino so I went by foot from place Diklo with guitar and my photo gear, I walk probably about 9 or 10 kilometers :D. In my idea I used also flashlights and few candles.

I know this has been done to death but it is something I have wanted to do for a while. It is a bit tricky to do when you live in a city. I thought the beach was a safe spot to pick seeing that there is not much there to catch alight. This was actually so much fun - you should try it!

No, I did not draw those hearts in the sand!

Extended Photo title: Doppio Rhum and Dottor Salasso had fun with fire lasso inside abandoned Casino in city Reno. This 2 guys are more badass than Al Pacino.

I joked a little bit. Doppio Rhum (Double Rum) and Dottor Salasso (Doctor bloodletting) are characters from Italian western comic book Captain Miki. This was cute comic book from my childhood. Doppio Rhum and Dottor Salasso often get drunk lol.

This was first steel wool idea that I did last year (2019), I forgot about this photo (I think it’s not bad?). This photo session was in abandoned Casino in city Zadar. I am not sure why this Casino stopped working long time ago. Did you noticed that sparks looks like fire lasso in the middle?

Thanks to my brave friend who helped to spin steel wool. I practiced a lot and now I can do steel wool photography without assistant.

If you like gambling movies then I recommend you: Rounders 1988, The Big Town 1987, Licence to Kill 1989, Shade 2003, The Gambler 1974.

You can check cute older song from Elf – Gambler, Gambler. This was Ronnie James Dio band before he become heavy metal star.

P.s. If you zoom picture you can see names of some local boys and girls who sign on the window: Marcelo, Sara, Noa, Andrea, Donata...

* This train tunnel is near city Zadar between small places Sukošan & Debeljak. This tunnel was damaged in ex Yugoslavian war in early 1990’s, but it was fix, it is long about 1200 meters. Now maybe once a month if you are lucky you can see cargo train, in the past railroad transfer millions of people. Photo session was in the middle of tunnel during the morning so you can see natural light in front of tunnel (it looks like a starburst). I used flashlights, light pumpkin and steel wool. Inside tunnel I saw one shy bat, outside tunnel you can see wild birds like hawk I think it was one eagle too. I did this photo last week for my birthday (there wasn’t better way to celebrate). I wrote small story about German musician who did suicide on railroad, I add little science fiction elements but mainly it is based on real facts.

Sad story in the glory of Mr. Smile (Rest in Power with Dio and Cozy Powell)

Guys in the band called him Mr. Smile

Drums were his passion & desire

Unfortunately his good mood beguile everyone.

In Schizofrenic episode

Ingo Schwichtenberg did suicide on the railroad

We will never know how much he felt empty inside.

He was only twenty nine

In our hearts he will forever shine.

He was a drummer in a band Helloween that was sounding like divine.

Voices from the darkest corner in his sickly mind made him blind

It is pity that young life ends his life quickly in a Hamburg city.

He was fired because he couldn’t play drums anymore

It was like a war inside of him that bring him near Hell’s door.

1995 was sad year, Mr. Smile didn’t feel fine

And even doctor “Stein”

Couldn’t fix his mental & addict problems.

One lonely night he was spinning the wrong dial on his phone

He was accidentally calling Master Of Sinning...

It was his darkest hour,

Satan used strongest power (to make him weak).

Lucifer spoke with Ingo: "Don’t waste your miserable life,

Jump quickly under the train, your trouble & pain will go away ".

It was devilish ride to perdition

Death accomplish her mission.

P.s. I recommend you song 3 songs that fits great with photo and story that I wrote about Ingo: Helloween - The Dark Ride, W.A.S.P. – Thunderhead, Black Sabbath - Ear In The Wall.

On Friday evening I went out with a Surrey Instagram group to Waverley Abbey in the pitch black and some of them very kindly demonstrated steel wool spinning and helped us with camera settings. Not all of us used DSLR's- some used a long exposure app on their phone.

This set of 4 were taken in the main part of the ruin. I have done some different edits on the colour balance. They vary from about 6 seconds up to 15 seconds.

We had to walk along the river bank in the dark to get here and got into the field to find several pairs of eyes- lots of cows sitting by the gate! They must have enjoyed the light show!

Waverley Abbey was the first Cistercian Abbey in England founded in 1128 by the Bishop of Winchester.

Decided on a blue/purple edit for this double spin from last Friday evening at Waverley Abbey, near Farnham.

Jinn Met The Greatest King Of Sin Part 2

Jinn: “Jeepers creepers! It ain’t no fun.

I still can’t believe, it is really 2021.

I owe you one.

My goodness it is finally the end of darkness

After almost 2000 years I finally arise

For you I have a great prize

But let me first introduce myself I am a Jinn Maymun.”

Chucky: “My moon? I never heard about such a name

Are you sure that you are not taking cocaine?”

Jinn: “Never heard of it. By the by can you tell me your name or nickname?

Chucky: “Hell no! You sound like a police! It's none of your goddamn business! My mother warned me long time ago about potential dangers of talking to strangers.”

Jinn: “You are not kind but never mind. Anyway, thanks, you rescue me

I would grant you one wish, just say it.”

Chucky: “Well, that sounds like a load of rubbish.

Buster, if you are Wishmaster

Than I am a Tinker Bell from hell!”

Judas Iscariot the narrator: “Jinn was free so he felt excited, you could hear his heart beat.”

Maymun mumbled magic words: hocus, pocus, focus.

After few seconds our guys disappeared to the new location near the graveyard (close to the railroad station).”

Chucky: “Bloody brilliant we are now in the city of Zadar.”

Jinn: “Holy Aladár, in my time this city was called Iadera.”

Chucky: “Oh heck, I thought that teleportation is only possible in Star Trek.

Can you teach me this magic?”

Jinn: “I am afraid not, you are asking a lot. Many who tried it ended tragic.”

Chucky: “You are something, a truly magician king.

Sorry dude that I was today so rude.”

Jinn: “It's ok. Btw what is a police?”

Chucky: “Well, bloody hell… It's a long & complicated story…

In short police want to hunt me like I am a wild quarry.

It is important that you and I built a peace.”

Jinn: “I always used real magic instead of cheap trick. Before few moments it was just a small act to prove you that I ain’t no freak. Btw who are you, what are you? I never saw anyone like you before?”

Chucky: I am who I am, the Lord of Darkness is my idol

As a human I played with dangerous Damballa chant

It is pity that my soul have been trapped inside this shitty doll

I prayed to the Lucifer but my wish have never been granted.

Don't knock on my door

I'm sinning hardcore

I am Chucky the greatest King of sin

People are scared of me because I am very mean

Mass media call me a brutal killing machine

I like to play deadly games in which I always win

Don’t trust everything that Hollywood shown about me on a silver screen.

I'm not naive fool. If I make a wish will you take my soul?

How do I know that you are not a cruel ghoul with an evil goal?

Btw you said only 1 wish, I thought it is 3 wishes?”

* To be continued

P.s. Chucky recommend you song from Metallica - Fight Fire with Fire.

Do you know why Lucifer cried fire tears last night? If you want to know the answer than you need to read my phantasy short story below.

Satan decreed to spread his evil seed around the world to make us wick

He thought he can execute his nefarious scheme very quick.

His wicked plan was to poison us all with virus corona.

Fallen angels attacked Wuhan in China, U.S.A. North & South Carolina,

Then continue with Spanish Barcelona to Italian Verona and Roma…

According to archangel Gabriel only human without any sin

Can pick a flower iris that can stop the coronavirus.

There is only one person on the planet without a sins, his name is Jacob Cyrus.

Magic iris can be found only near the Fountain of life at the Dragon mountain.

Lucifer cried fire tears last night because people stand up like never before and fight.

Devil had fears that his evil plan is overwhelm by brave men & woman.

WarChild lead the people to the final battle: “No more satan’s oppress we are gonna win this war”.

People united fight back and dupe Beelzebub’s troops.

Please take care, we will beat this evil coronavirus.

I am not Flickr star but maybe my story & light stars can help you a little bit in this huge corona crisis. Photo is taken at Imperial fountain in city Zadar, it is often full of garbage and drawn with graphitti :(. This fountain was built in 16 century and was used to supply Venetian ships and local population with fresh water. Btw did you know iris is national flower in Croatia?

In the end I recommend you 2 songs: Arc Angel - Harlequins of Light, Bruce Dickinson - Starchildren.

spinning Steel wool while burning under a bridge

Spinning in the abandonded subways of Rochester.

steel wool spinning

Had fun tonight doing a few wire wool spins around Barwell. Straight out of the camera.

Another from tonight's trip around Barwell.

Winter is very tough on me when it comes to photography. We don’t get a ton of snow so most of the woodlands are bare and a tad boring. So instead I try to use this time of year for trying new things in photography and try to be creative. Sunday night was one of those nights that are so special this time of year and was an absolute blast. I went to a local “haunted tunnel” and decided to try spinning some steel wool in a rig I built with LED lights attached. The result blew me away. I hope you guys enjoy these as much as I did making them. Big thanks to @bulletsnbirdies and @jessiepistachio for helping me with getting everything ready for the shoot and lighting the wool for me.
