Nice to see a bit of industry return to the River Tyne, Wallsend, North East UK. The once mighty shipbuilding river.

I wanted to get the three bridges together with all three bridges landing and looking north. So I've named them the "Three Sisters" The weather was ideal yesterday with the low cloud base giving me the opportunity for a long exposure, I hope you enjoy my images, thanks again for taking the time to view and comment. The blurb and credits below was sourced from Wikipedia.

The Forth Bridge is a cantilever railway bridge across the Firth of Forth in the east of Scotland, 9 miles (14 kilometres) west of Edinburgh City Centre. It is considered an iconic structure and a symbol of Scotland (having been voted Scotland's greatest man-made wonder in 2016), and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Forth Road bridge, opened in 1964, spans the Firth of Forth, connecting Edinburgh, at Queensferry, to Fife, at North Queensferry. It replaced a centuries-old ferry service to carry vehicular traffic, cyclists and pedestrians across the Forth

The Queensferry Crossing is a road bridge in Scotland. It was built alongside the existing Forth Road Bridge and carries the M90 motorway across the Firth of Forth between Edinburgh, at South Queensferry, and Fife, at North Queensferry, (courtesy of Wikipedia}

Yesterday they started major roadworks to the bridge, however, there were no major problems during the morning peak after the Queensferry Crossing had closed to southbound traffic for resurfacing work. Motorists travelling towards Edinburgh from Fife have been diverted onto the Forth Road Bridge while 15 metres of tarmac on the crossing is replaced.

It still looks beautiful from this standpoint

On this hazy April afternoon just north of Buffalo, the Grand Island Bridge stretches over the Niagara River—one of the few rivers on Earth that flows north. Like Anubis guiding souls up the eternal current, these waters surge relentlessly toward Niagara Falls, undeterred by ice or season. Time, like this river, waits for no one—it only moves forward, carrying all things with it.

Have a great new week and thanks for visiting.

The New River Gorge Bridge is located on U. S. Route 19, just north of Fayetteville, WV. I travelled for almost 2 hours enduring a snowstorm on Christmas day, 2020 to get to the Bridge. The bridge was the longest steel span in the western hemisphere and the third highest in the United States. It spans across one of North America's oldest river. It was completed on October 22, 1977. The bridge reduced a 40-minute drive down narrow mountain roads to less than three minutes!

It is one of the most photographed places and scenes in West Virginia. The bridge was designed by Michael Baker Company, and the construction was performed by the American Bridge Division of U.S. Steel

Moffett Field at NASA Ames near Mountain View, California has the famous Hangar One. Only the skeleton of the hangar is left, the skin was removed due to health reasons (asbestos). I like the skeleton look, it is a work of art.

Google plans to restore Hangar One, in exchange for being able to use up to two-thirds of the floor space to shelter eight of their private jets. Last year NASA leased Hangar One and Moffett airfield to Planetary Ventures, a subsidiary of Google. Detail on Wikipedia at bit.ly/1NSe9GI

Abandoned Pub & Gasworks.

Originally known as the Clayton Arms, built around 1869, the pub was rebuilt in 1935 then renamed The Cricketers Arms in 1966. For the last ten years or more it has stood derelict and marked as a dangerous structure.

This is the second image from my architectural diptych (that may eventually become a triptych) of the amazing Lake Point Tower building in Chicago (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lake_Point_Tower).

I shot this image during the Vision Explorers workshop that was held last September by and with great photographers such as Joel Tjintjelaar, Julia Anna Gospodarou, Armand Dijcks, Sharon Tenenbaum, Daniel Portal, Mabry Campbell and so many more that I cannot mention them all.

To take this picture, I remember I was almost lying on the ground to have a good angle and accentuate the leading lines... It was fun, xcept for the people and especially guards around looking at me like I was a mad man or... a threat to security... Because every long exposure photographer will tell you they got bugged at one time or another while setting up their tripod, because OBVIOUSLY we might be endangering public safety... right?

The other half of the diptych is on its way soon, so stay tuned!

And just to tease a little more... this is NOT the picture I like the best of the pair...

I had a meeting at Silicon Valley Campus of the Carnegie Mellon University at NASA Ames near Sunnyvale, California. After the meeting I took the time to drive around the NASA campus. This is Hangar One - I am pointing the camera up on the structure.

Hangar One is one of the world's largest freestanding structures, covering 8 acres (3.2 ha), and has long been one of the most recognizable landmarks of California's Silicon Valley. An early example of mid-century modern architecture, it was built in the 1930s as a naval airship station for the USS Macon. The curvy structure on the right is a huge door that slides around in a circular way. A few years back it was stripped from its cover due to lead and asbestos contamination. I like the naked structure more than the original one.

I processed a balanced and a paintery HDR photo from three RAW exposures, and blended them using 50% paintery HDR for the scene, and 100% balanced HDR for the sky. After that I desaturated the image, and fixed the curves for higher contrast to make the scene pop in monochrome.
