Ready, Steady, 'GrOw'!....seems the January snow had an unusual effect on the fungi in my local park, Trentham Gardens. I wouldn't be at all surprised if one of these days we actually see a Trentham fairy sitting on the top of one of the caps...they like to move around the park when no one is looking! :))
The lake, seen in the background, is frozen over. A pretty but cold walk around the lake that day!

This robin built it's nest in the planter outside our front door. The eggs hatched a few days ago and there's been steady incoming worms to the babies.
This species is one of the most widespread terns in all North America which is quite remarkable considering their numbers were almost wiped out entirely by hunters seeking feathers in the late 19th century. The protection they needed came in the form of the Migratory Bird Treaty in 1918 and their population increased steadily until human disturbance, habitat loss and pollution in recent decades has lead to their numbers receding again.
This migrant spends its winters in Central and South America and can be listed as a long distance migrator since one banded in Great Britain was recovered in Australia.
In the spring and fall they can be found patrolling the shorelines of lakes and rivers plunge diving for food.
This bird is shaking off the excess water from a dive while if flight.

This lady, not one of our group, was taking photos of the Gulls at Half Moon Bay on Saturday evening.
I will be back after picking up the kids from school to catch up.
I love this image for the backstory. This one landed on this wee branch as the wind blew and took what seemed like minutes to steady himself. I guess I'm a bit silly for finding so much joy in that LOL

So I was walking back into the house with my camera and saw this snail on the path. Crouching down as low as I could get, I took several photographs... and then realised my neighbour was stood watching me with a curious look :-/.
Hopefully it's not just me that enters a 'zone' when I have my camera in my hands!
