A wild sunsetting sky with clouds driven by winds passes over Hart Mountain. Love the yellow tones entering through the gaps between the clouds. Looks more violent than it truly was.

"Is the beam from a lighthouse affected by howling wind and rain? It remains perfectly steadfast and unaffected by the storm. Your true self is like that. Nothing can ever harm you once you are consciously aware that it is so."

- Vernon Howard

“So stay true to your own nature. If you like to do things in a slow and steady way, don't let others make you feel as if you have to race. If you enjoy depth, don't force yourself to seek breadth. If you prefer single-tasking to multi-tasking, stick to your guns. Being relatively unmoved by rewards gives you the incalculable power to go your own way.”

I can't visit Northumberland (North East England) without going to Bamburgh. My favourite castle sits on the coast as it has for hundreds of years. It is a long time since I've been there on a sunny day though. I'm not sure I approve.

The tree takes precedence here and the fence gave the right of way.

Happy Fence Friday everyone.

I never saw a discontented tree. They grip the ground as though they liked it, and though fast rooted they travel about as far as we do.

Petra is a name with a long history and great popularity in the world. The name Petra comes from Greek and means "rock". It was often used in ancient times as a nickname for women who were strong and independent.

The name Petra comes from Greek and means "rock". Therefore, stones that are associated with strength, steadfastness and grounding fit well with the name Petra.

Tell me, where does your name come from?

“The strongest people are not those who show strength in front of us but those who win battles we know nothing about.” Jonathan Harnisch

I am sure that there are a lot of really strong personalities among you. But in order to hold out in the long term and not completely exhaust yourself, you also need to take breaks (physical but especially mental).

And that's why, whenever possible, take some time out to just care for yourself. And if it's just a few minutes of relaxation while you consciously listen to a song on the radio that touches you. Or pause for a moment to look at a flower or listen to the song of a bird.

It's minutes, sometimes just seconds, that in the end give you the strength and energy to remain steadfast and, like this sunflower, to keep your head up.

With this in mind and in the spirit of the above quote (which I really like, by the way), I wish you a relaxing weekend.

Steadfast & true

The reef pines in the Elbe Sandstone Mountains are each a fascinating sight.

A few of them have achieved a certain degree of fame and regularly appear in photos from this region (including mine). One of them, my favorite tree, is even very close by.

This one, on the Heringsaussicht viewpoint on mount Kleiner Winterberg, is not among them.

Therefore, I would like to give this pine, which clearly shows that life on the rock is not easy, its moment in the spotlight. After all, it has held its own here quite bravely for years and deserves it.

This is Rockbeg, a rocky outcrop on the beach at Banna Strand. I like the pattern of the waves created here. This was taken from 120m up using a DJI Phantom 4 Pro drone.
