Plain Pigeon / Paloma Ceniza (Patagioenas inornata )
Status: Non Common Resident (Residente No Comun)
Near Threatened (Amenazada)
The plain pigeon / Paloma Ceniza (Patagioenas inornata) is a species of bird in the family Columbidae. It is found in Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Jamaica, and Puerto Rico. Its natural habitats are forest, woodland, coastal desert, mangrove and swampy areas. It is threatened by habitat loss.
The plain pigeon is a large-bodied bird (38 cm [15 in]) that superficially resembles the common city pigeon. At a distance it appears pale blue-gray overall. The head, hind-neck, breast, and part of the folded wing are colored with a red-wine wash. When folded, the wing shows a white leading edge; in flight, it forms a conspicuous wing bar. Legs and feet are dark red. The female is slightly smaller and duller than the male. Juveniles are browner overall, with pale wing margins and dark eyes.
Three subspecies of the plain pigeon are recognized: P. i. inornata from Cuba and Hispaniola, P. i. exigua from Jamaica, and P. i. wetmorei from Puerto Rico.

Piping Plover (Charadrius melodus) Status: Near Threatened
Little round Piping Plovers hide in plain sight on sandy ocean and lake shores, blending right in with their sandy gray backs. It's not until they scurry down the sand on their orange legs that you're likely to spot these big-eyed shorebirds with a sharp black collar and an orange bill. They nest in soft sand away from the water's edge along the Atlantic Coast, Great Plains, and Great Lakes. They are endangered due to habitat loss, disturbance, and predation.
Piping Plovers are on the U.S. endangered species list, so if you see one don't get too close. If one starts frantically calling or feigning injury, back away carefully as there may be an almost invisible nest nearby - AllAboutBirds.org

Carpintero Bolo,Carpintero de Sierra / Antillean Piculet ( Nesoctites micromegas )
Status:
Residente Local Comun (Rlc)
Endemico (E).

The Antillean piculet (Nesoctites micromegas) is a species of bird in the woodpecker family Picidae. It is monotypic within the genus Nesoctites. The species is evolutionarily distinct from the other piculets and is afforded its own subfamily Nesoctitinae. It is endemic to the Caribbean island of Hispaniola. A fossil feather in amber attributed to the genus has been found in the Dominican Republic, showing that the ancestors of the species have been isolated on Hispaniola for at least 25 mya.
The Antillean piculet occupies a number of different habitats within Hispaniola, including humid and dry Pinus and broadleaf forests, as well as semi-arid scrubland and thorn-forest. It will also occupy stands of mangrove forest and occasionally orchards and plantations. It occurs from sea-level to 1800 m, although in pine forests it is more common below 300 m.
The Antillean piculet feeds on insects, with ants and beetles forming a large part of the diet. They also consume a lot of fruit compared to other piculets. Individuals and pairs forage rapidly through the understory of their habitat, mostly on small branches, twigs, vines and stalks, and less commonly on trunks

I have seen the parents about with one youngster for a while but they haven't given me any opportunity to photograph them. They are quick to disappear under cover. This juvenile greenfinch (still with parents) is early as I don't usually see them about around here until July/early August. Hopefully the parents will be having another brood.

BeBe was born and raised in Hathian, LA. Her father was imprisoned when she was 5yrs old and her mother killed when she was 8yrs old. Thrown into foster care, her oldest brother, Zenji cared for all the younger children until they ran away from foster care when BeBe was 14yrs old. BeBe found herself living on the streets with her siblings, joining a gang to just survive. She ended up a gang leader at the age of 19yrs and became one of the most notortious gang leaders Hathian ever saw. She and Zenji, her oldest brother, reunited with their father and took over the "family shipping company". After the death of her oldest child, BeBe retreated into the shadows, leaving gang life behind and focused on her children. Now with all but one of her children grown, she finally came out of the shadows and started a new life for herself, marrying Dr Simon LeMarchand and dipping her toes back into the gang scene, the old BeBe slowly coming back to light...only time will tell what BeBe has planned for Hathian now.

Whyte Islet is a very small island on the shore of Howe Sound. People hike across the rocks to climb upon this hidden West Vancouver gem. Being aware of the changing tide is very important....the rocky path leading from the beach can quickly disappear when the tide comes in. Many people have been left stranded high and dry on this cute little island. The waterline indicates the water depth reached.

Whytecliff Park is located near West Vancouver's Horseshoe Bay Neighbourhood, the original name of which was White Cliff City, which opened in 1909. In 1914, Colonel Albert Whyte pressed for the spelling change from White Cliff City to Whytecliff. The Whytecliff area is now distinct from Horseshoe Bay. The park, originally Rockcliffe Park, was developed by W.W. Boultbee in 1926, and a private access road was cut from the Marine Drive highway at Batchelor Bay.
The fifty acre Boultbee estate was purchased by the Union Steamship Company in 1939 and the company operated a Bowen Island Ferry from Whytecliff during 1939-41 and 1946-1952
The park is currently home to more than 200 marine animal species and is the first Marine Protected Area in Canada. Sea lions can be seen sunbathing on the beach during summer.

EGB 4 (a nebula discovered by Ellis, Grayson, & Bond in 1984) is NOT a comet, despite it's comet-like appearance. It is an emission nebula surrounding a catacylismic binary star system called BZ Cam in the constellation of Camelopardis.
It has an unusual bow-shock structure as BZ Cam (with it's associated wind) moves through the interstellar medium, similar to the bow wave in front of a ship that is moving through water.
BZ Cam is believed to be a white dwarf star that is accreting mass from an accompanying main-sequence star of 0.3-0.4 solar masses.
It is around 2,500 light years away, and has a space velocity of 125 km/second.
I can only find one previous image of EGB 4 online, a NASA APOD from 2000, so I believe this could be the first amateur image and the first colour image.

Peregrine,
One of the larger falcons, the Peregrine is a symbol of survival against the odds, these being persecution and pesticide poisoning that threatened it with extinction, Now it has made a strong comeback, in the UK, it is more common than it has ever been, although parts of its fomer range remain unoccupied, As with most falcons and hawks, females are considerbly larger than males, Pairs often remain together for long periods, soaring over nesting cliffs, Peregrines look dark against the sky, but a close view reveals black, white, and yellow adding sharp contrast to the over all grey,
Occurrence - Widespread but scarce, breeding through Scandinavia, N and W Great Britain, Spain, Portugal, Alps, Italy, and Balkans, in hills and coasts with cliffs, increasingly in cities, Present all year, some wandering in winter,
