Sara's hair really is long. You can't always tell because of the curls, but static electricity helps.
The WC-130J on display has flown 20 hurricane missions to date, and the severe weather conditions and intense lightning strikes encountered often results in curiously frayed static discharges!
When I first grabbed my camera for this shot, the thread was sticking straight up from the laundry basket. But the girl had to come in and blow on it. I took one shot with the flash, and I wanted to try a couple more, with a darker exposure, but the kid would not stay away from the laundry basket, and killed the static in the string. It could have been a perfect shot - totally indicative of how stressed and on edge I am right now. Well, 'nuf said. Pic posted. No time for another. This is today.

The lower deck flight test station on the A380. The LCD displays mirrors that shown in the cockpit, as well as other essential parameters. It is also possible to shut down engines from this station too for part of the flight test certifications.

Well, not my original idea for today's challenge but being up in Tampa this morning I didn't have a chance to shoot what I wanted. Anyway, an escalator within International Plaza, Tampa - yes, more shopping.
We were there early hence the reason nobody was about as this is normally (when we visit) always a very busy shopping mall.

Staff Sgt. Galen Amick, a reconnaissance-man and a San Luis Obispo, California native, is securing his static line to the anchor cable before he and the other Marines in his platoon jump off a Chinook CH-47 and into Lake Margrethe, Michigan. The Forth Reconnaissance Battalion, based out of Joliet, Illinois, is taking part in rare Wet Jump training during exercise Northern Strike17. Northern Strike 17 is a National Guard Bureau-sponsored exercise uniting approximately 5,000 service members from 13 states and five coalition countries during the first two weeks of August 2017 at the Camp Grayling Joint Maneuver Training Center and the Alpena Combat Readiness Training Center, both located in northern Michigan and operated by the Michigan National Guard. The newly accredited NS17 demonstrates the Michigan National Guard’s ability to provide accessible, readiness-building opportunities for military units from all service branches to achieve and sustain proficiency in conducting mission command, air, sea, and ground maneuver integration, together with the synchronization of fires in a joint, multinational, decisive action environment.
