Day 1/365
You might remember me. I've decided to come back and start all over again from scratch. I've missed Flickr, the encouragement, the people, the inspiration, etc. Over the past many months that I have been gone I've been so encouraged by Kay Walker. She is on Day 362 and I'm so proud of her sticking through it. I love you, Kay <3
Anyway, I hope you will join me on my journey once again (and maybe this time I'll actually finish!) : )
why do we all look so dumb when taking photos??
I was originally going to take my lighting outside tonight and try a few different ideas, but I let my fear of driving my neighbors crazy at 3am prevent me from doing so.
So I decided to try to get an all white background just using the softboxes. I figured out how to do it through a single sb600 and shutter speed on a white wall at one point, but I forgot how to do that over time lol. But I realized that if I'm just shooting one person (maaaaybe 2- that'd be a stretch though), then using the larger apollo softbox should work perfectly.
So I set my sights low and decided to try out a sure win. Yea. I'm pushing the bars of my creative limits here haha.
But alas. ANY shooting is an improvement. And definitely adding lighting into the mix, however elementary it is, at least it's getting me back into the zone. I feel like I'm starting entirely from scratch, which is all at once super frustrating and relatively refreshing.

"Day One"
December 2007 was a month like no other. My life became a miserable mess. The mess is not entirely cleaned up yet, but I need a fresh start. So I'm starting my Three Sixty Five project anew.
This is definitely not the best shot, and I can't figure out how to prevent you all from seeing the larger version (which is even worse). But I still like the idea I had for this shot. i just wish it had turned out better. Ah well..Day One. It can only get better from here.
Instead of attempting to catch up from where I left off, I am divorcing my life for unreasonable behaviour and starting a new one.
Divorce is painful, complicated, and difficult, but hopefully this transition will lead to better adventures.

Been contemplating it for a while, and decided to give this 365 thing another whorl. As of today I have officially survived a full thirty years of life and am beginning a thirty first. Seemed like an appropriate day to begin.
Decided to start another 365 Days project. I'm genuinely hopeful it will reignite my passion for photography in some way. It's been a long five years...
January 1, 2008
I just could not continue on with a dying project. The longer it took to reach the 365...the one that spanned 2007 and 2008 with no end in sight...the more I realized that I would have to start over. I don't want to carry anything into 2009 that represents me as a failure.
This is my year. The year all the bad is changed to good, the year of health, the year of living with intent.
I will NOT sit by and watch my life go by.
I want to be proud of who I am.

I thank you Lord for giving me the strength..and the pain.
I know I will grow through this......and I know I will have bad days....but I will not allow myself.....to continue my vicious cycle anymore.

From June 10, 2022: #Embracing and #confronting our #shadow can be difficult for me. I don’t like #confrontation. I shy away from it a lot. Today’s @beyourownbeloved #photo and #reflective writing prompts focussed in on the concept of the shadow.
We had fairly good weather today: it was both #sunny and #bright. So, I took the easy photos: ones where the sun hung high overhead, reflecting my frame onto #mundane surfaces like the grass and the pavement. But even my Monkey Mind felt they were shots I and so many others had done before.
So I left it for awhile… in fact, I almost forgot about it. Then, as I made my way out of my #bedroom early that evening, I caught a glimpse of my shadowy figure climbing up the wall. And I was enchanted. I wondered if that’s how artist Richard Hambleton @richardhambletonfoundation first discovered the kind of lanky figure that would form the basis for the shadowmen he painted in the 1970s and 80s. Had he glimpsed his own shadow on the wall of his flat a half century ago?
Today, I feel #tired. I slept in again. Eventually, I headed out and had a #manicure to shed the dry skin off of my feet. I have a #fan on at night and it sits near the foot of my bed, but wow it leaves my #feet so dry.
I also picked up a new @thetorocompany gas #lawn #mower as our older one finally bit the dust a few weeks ago. The grass at Mum’s needs cutting. It’s really high in some places, and my Maltese poodle pup along with my Mom’s miniature poodle push through it, as if trying to form a path through African long grass, with blades that were as high as their heads in some spots. It’s how I feel about life when my monkey mind natters away - it’s like I’m cutting through long grass, unsure of my destination, unsure of my life. And when I’m broken, I feel as ephemeral as my shadow on the wall.

Today........tonight........TOMORROW......my life starts anew.
I got off work....and I just had this thought. "I NEED TO CUT MY HAIR"
It was like a symbol....a metaphor for my life starting over today.
I feel like a new person. I feel a weight lifted off me.....my mom even noticed the difference.
She says you look fresh.....ready.......happy.
And you know what.......I AM.....
I'm scared.....I'm anxious...but SERIOUSLY......I'm ready to take my life back.
I'm ready to take ME back.
This haircut is my "promise"....my symbol of a better tomorrow.
AND HELLO>..........IT LOOKS HAWT!!!

This shot is technically better, but lacking I think. Hence the addition to my submission. The question, is the addition to the other image distracting or a little more interesting??

The terabyte hard drive crashed taking 40,000 plus images with it, and this time they cannot be recovered. I have some recent work in folders on my desk top, otherwise I would have nothing. So, I get to start over. My mother in law will send us her hard drive as we have some photos in it from when i used her camera pre 2006. So hopefully I'll find 2002 to 2006 images there from when I used her camera and 1996 to 2006 when I used my camera (minolta) from the good old film days. Like a new adventure, we'll see what she has.
Sooo I've decided to start a fresh new page err..thingy. And I wasn't sure the best way to start it till yesterday. Well.. fresh page, fresh photographs. Right? So here they are.
I'm deciding I need to worry less about the outcome and more about the production. So I'm going to start a 52 weeks project. I thought it'd be a lot easier for me then starting out with a 365..I have a feeling I would slack off and then never finish it. I'm never one to finish things, but I'm working on it. Hopefully with some encouragement I can get through it.
I'm going to start the 52 project next week instead of today because I figured it's better to start on a monday then halfway through the week.
I'm just going to get a feel for myself and my camera.. soo the first few weeks will most likely not be very creative, haha.
Not sure if I like it better in color or b&w...
I am officially granting myself a 365 do-over. I'd gotten so far behind, and i was really confused about what i took when, and i'd skipped some days, and i was generally a spaz about the whole thing. Hence...the do-over. I'm gonna be better this time. More participate-y in groups and such. More comment-y on streams and such. An all-around better Flickr girl. Okay? Okay.

Been a while since I posted anything. Basically decided I needed a break from photography for a while. End of year exhibition took alot out of me, not that it was hard but changed the entire way I looked at photography, and when I left college I tried to force myself to continue in b&w along the same lines but found myself slipping into a funk.
I got into fitness and only recently picked back up the camera. Decided to go with a Fuji Pro 160S color/film using Exposure. Always loved it muted but strong colors.
