The AF in Nikon V1 seems to be pretty accurate and the pancake lens decently sharp, even wide open...nice :)

Back to that sunrise earlier this week as it worth seeing again and again. I don’t like to swamp my feed with these rich saturated photos and although I took a few of this special morning I will just trickle them through and considering yesterday’s photo was black and white it’s time for another one. This image is my starting composition as I waited on the tide, I had already spied the rock that I really wanted but I needed a little more sea around it. The movement in the sea is from the incoming tide which was moving at a pace.

For the Macro Mondays theme of 6/21/2021: MATCHSTICK.

A quick iPhone upload from yesterday's walk around Torver Back Common in the South-western Lake District. The Coniston Fells, Fairfield and Helvellyn visible in the background. Coniston Water is also visible mid-right. Processed using Snapseed and looking better (less noise in the sky) on the small screen. I'll process the original version in due course but thought this was quite a pleasing landscape for starters.

I finally managed to visit the beautiful Scalber Force just outside of Settle the other week. It's a beautiful falls that offers so much. I tried many different compositions and I may well share more with you but this will do for starters.

When the Ginko drops its leaves, Winter begins... around here, at least.

Much cooler, today... temps from 17F to 27F with a dusting of snow from last night.

Cheers, and enjoy the season...

Getting ready for the off - (the purple pursuit!) I went over to Over Owler Tor a fortnight ago to check on the heather. Odd parts of the ling were in flower (there's a prominent bit in the centre bottom of the frame) but a lot looks dead or desiccated from the long hot spring.

The clouds made for a half-decent shot anyway.

The classical view of Hallstatt. Uploaded to the internet a million times (at least). So I asked myself, how can I possibly add something new? For starters, I came in winter, and (of course) I waited for my favorite light which is at blue hour, just when the city lights turn on. And then there was the ferry. I noticed the little ferry boat already during the day and thought its lights might provide nice trails during blue hour. So I studied the schedule and came back to the right place at the right time ...

Quite an old image, taken back in January on a visit to St Pauls Cathedral in London. Wasn't sure what to do with it so converted it to B&W for starters.

This is my deepest ever Narrowband image of NGC7000, in part it has helped by having the use of some better equipment.

For starters I had a significant upgrade to my QHY11 Mono CCD which now has the new heating ring to combat the dew when we have very high humidity (most of the time it’s around 80% here in Western Michigan) and the new QHY Large 7 Position Filter Wheel. For this image I used the Chroma 7nm H-Alpha, SII and OIII Filters and I am extremely happy with the detail and contrast these filters have helped me achieve. For the focusing I am using the Optec Gemini Focusing Rotator and the precision of this Focuser goes beyond anything I have experienced to date.

The North America Nebula (NGC 7000 or Caldwell 20) is an emission nebula in the constellation Cygnus that resembles the shape of North America and The Gulf Of Mexico. It lies at a distance of approximately 1800 light years away from us.

It contains some very interesting areas such as The Cygnus Wall which is representative of Mexico and Central America and the nearby Pelican Nebula (IC5070) which is not usually referred to as within The American Nebula however it is part of the same cloud of ionized Hydrogen.
