Today is an orange day at Color my world Daily and the theme at Crazy Tuesday is stars. And of course, Mr. Teddy Bear is with us since we celebrate Happy Teddy Bear Tuesdays. As you can see, Mr. Teddy Bear has a fascination with stars. He loves looking at stars but he always keeps his feet on the ground or on his telescopic ladder. We all should do that: keep our eyes on the sky and our feet on the ground, don’t you think ?

Icy stars or flowers, I froze 10 liters of water in a bucket overnight, at night it was freezing around -20c and in the morning the water had frozen enough. I also put few tulips in the bucket to give colors to the ice lantern. As the water froze, small patterns formed on the surface of the ice, nature's wonderful art.
The photo is a small part of a larger photo, it is also a stacking of 19 photos.

Macro Mondays theme Stars
A bunch of tiny poppy seedheads, total width of image is approx 5cm/2inches.

The Milky Way rises above the "Valley Of Dreams" in the Bisti Badlands of New Mexico.
After an extensive and confusing drive across the Bisti/De-na-zin Wilderness we arrived in the Valley Of Dreams. I started up the Giai GPS app and Wayne Pinkston, Chris Wrey, Sandra Herber and I started into the valley at around 4:00pm. After surveying the area and marking some of the more interesting formations, we returned to the cars for some snacks and rest. There were 4 in the group and at midnight we trekked off once again into the valley, although now its was very dark, so dark that without my headlamp on I couldn't see my hand in front of my face. The movie "Pitch Black" immediately came to mind, and the hair started to rise on the back of my neck. I scoured the area with my torchlight and moved on somewhat at comfort. As we crossed over the ravine and climbed up to the plateau I could here sounds like pebbles falling here and there which reminded me of another movie where a young Jedi is ambushed by the sand people. I think my imagination went into overdrive and I felt a rush of adrenaline. To my relief the path crested and we dropped into the "area of interest" which is a sprawling valley rutted with gutters and crevices as far as the eye could see with maligned and mutated shapes jutting up all over the place, except for now its just eerie shapes silhouetted against a starry sky so bright it almost makes you dizzy looking at it there on this dark moonless night.
We used one small 125 LED panel and bounched that light off some of the rocks off to the right side which picked up some of the color of the natural rock and casts that onto the scene. a tip learned from Wayne.

Last night I saw the most beautiful shooting star in the sky I had ever seen. It was supposed to be the biggest Perseid meteor shower in years; I did not actually see the really gorgeous shower-show because I was in city and clouds soon came in, but I managed to see some single performers with one top-class extraordinary beauty.
No chance to take photos of it, my camera just gets blinded in front of such a spectacle, but I have another photo that in its spirit reminds this star show.
I hope we all can always enjoy fascination of stars, blooming flowers, and true beauty of human soul. Enjoy your Sunday and upcoming week, my dear Flickr friends!

We had a big dump of snow last Sunday, which is quite rare for December (the whole country ground to a halt). Due to sub-zero temperatures it's still here.
Snow here is very unpredictable and fairly rare these days, and so I like to make use of it in my photos whenever I can.

Macro Mondays - Stars
Chosen as the Cover Photo for Super~Six ☆ Stage #6 ☆ Andromeda "50", Level 6 - 4 Sept 2016.
The milky way core rides above the Watchman in Zion National Park. It is against the rules to shoot from the bridge in Zion. So I walked the river to find a nice alignment. Lighting is also not allowed in the park, So the light on the watchman is actually light pollution for the town of Springdale. The image is an exposure blend . Two images of different exposures are blended together. That way the highlights are not blown out and the shadows still get detail. This was shot last year during the Nightscaper Conference
For this week’s Macro Monday’s theme of Stars, I have chosen to do a still life macro of Star Anise. The image has been lit using natural window light from camera left.
