A Star of David marking the grave of a Jewish soldier, First Lieutenant Joseph J. Pugach, who died shortly after D-Day. The Normandy American Cemetery, Omaha Beach, Colleville-Sur-Mer.
I was surprised to find many Stars of David interspersed among the crosses that I had seen in most photographs.
Some information about Lieutenant Pugach can be found here:

Spanish Synagogue, Prague. I took this shot from the upper balcony. This is one of the most beautiful buildings I have ever seen.
The Spanish Synagogue is the most recent synagogue in the Prague Jewish Town.
Built in 1868 for the local Reform congregation on the site of the 12th-century Altschul, which was the oldest synagogue in the Prague ghetto.
It was called the Spanish Synagogue for its impressive Moorish interior design, influenced by the famous Alhambra. The building was designed by Josef Niklas and Jan Bělský, the remarkable interior (from 1882–83) by Antonín Baum and Bedřich Münzberger.
František Škroup, the composer of the Czech national anthem, served as organist here in 1836-45.
Looking Close On Friday-Napkins
In keeping with the traditions...here are some Chanukah Napkins I've saved. I can't bring myself to use them, so I'll photograph them instead. Happy Chanukah Everyone!
A postcard sent to my grandmother from her godfather in 1913 to wish her Easter Greetings. Easter this year is somber for many as the world is on lockdown. But that doesn't mean we can't have joy in realizing we have so much to be thankful for despite any difficulty. Wishing everyone a safe and healthy Easter!
It all revolves around the center of gravity... well, not exactly. It's a metaphor with global implications.
The Sixth & I Historic Synagogue is a non-denominational, non-membership, non-traditional Jewish synagogue[1] located at the corner of Sixth Street and I Street, NW in the Chinatown neighborhood of Washington, D.C. It is one of the oldest synagogues in the city. In addition to hosting religious services for different Jewish denominations, the synagogue hosts many lectures, concerts, and art exhibitions for the general public.
the alley folds into silence as a single figure slips through a corridor of stone and shadow. the light, like a scalpel, carves space into narrative—unfolding a quiet tension between presence and past. everything is geometry here: of architecture, of belief, of time.

Israel Returns to Her Homeland
That brings us all the way back to May 14, 1948. On this day, the United Nations officially recognized the State of Israel, with US president Harry Truman determining the deciding vote. The Israeli government established the State of Israel, thus fulfilling the twenty-five-hundred-year-old prophecy recorded in the Bible. Great Britain ended its mandate in Palestine and removed its troops, leaving more than 650,000 Jews to govern themselves in their own land.
In 2006, for the first time in nineteen hundred years, Israel became home to the largest Jewish community in the world, surpassing the Jewish population in the United States. From the 650,000 who returned when the Jewish state was founded in 1948, the population of Israel has swelled to over 9 million people in 2021. The significance of Israel’s reemergence in her ancient homeland is that this had to occur in order to set the stage for the final fulfillment of biblical prophecies.
To comprehend what an incredible act of God it is to preserve the beleaguered Jews throughout history and then return them to their land, consider this observation by Gary Frazier: “You cannot find the ancient neighbors of the Jews anywhere. Have you ever met a Moabite? Do you know any Hittites? Are there any tours to visit the Ammonites? Can you fvind the postal code of a single Edomite? No! These ancient peoples disappeared from history and from the face of the earth. Yet the Jews, just as God promised, returned to their land.”

Emmanuel, "God With Us", was born in Bethlehem. He was God in the flesh to bring to a dark world the light of salvation and eternal life. His birth is the beginning of the most important event to ever take place on this Earth. He's my Saviour and my Hero. Merry Christmas to all my Flickr friends!! May God Bless You all!!

The brain has sympathy for patterns, which are repetitive forms. Symmetry has a very important place among the patterns. In Hebrew the the word shade (Tzel) is part of the word photography (Tzilum) , and shade is a symmetrical phenomenon that mimics the contours of the body that casts the shadow, without imitating its details, and with an abstraction of its color. The same goes for silhouette. However in reflection we have an accurate repetition in two dimensions of the original which is three-dimensional in reality. This sympathy of the brain for patterns is an inherited trait. What is relevant is that every time symmetry and photography pops up in connected we are probably dealing with the influence of the past on the present, even if it seems to us that we meet the phenomenon of symmetry spontaneously in the present.

השפעת התבניות
=

In fact, you can see a double tetraktys here because if you look only at the white triangles, the top one is the one below it 2, below it, 3, and if you look at the blue ones, the bottom one is the one above it 2, above it 3. For the tetraktys to be perfect, a white line is missing at the bottom and a blue line is missing at the top, but either way, because of the importance of the tetraktys as a Pythagorean symbol, it makes sense to assume that the Pythagorean knew the Star of David as a sacred version of their main symbol.

This Christmas bauble was hand beaded with sequins and pins by me. I have a Christmas tradition. I bead Christmas baubles for a select group of friends every year. In this case they are for a friend, who like me, elects blue as her favourite colour.
Each bauble is 15 centimetres in diameter and contain hundreds of sequins, varying in number depending upon the complexity of the pattern and the type of sequins I use. Most sequins in this bauble are 5mm in diameter, except the large Stars of David which are 6mm and the small stars which are 3mm and very fiddly. The Stars of David sequins are vintage celluloid sequins from the 1920s Depending upon the colour of the sequin, I will use either a gold or a silver pin to attach it to the bauble. I always leave the flowers and stars until last, allowing a gap in the sequin chain to pin them in.
These baubles are smaller than some others I do, however because it is a complex pattern which starts from the inside and is worked outwards in ever larger circles, each bauble takes approximately 2 to 2 1/2 hours per side.
It is however, a labour of love which I do to pass the time throughout the year.

The Basilica di Santa Croce (Basilica of the Holy Cross) is the principal Franciscan church in Florence, Italy, and a minor basilica of the Roman Catholic Church. It is situated on the Piazza di Santa Croce, about 800 meters south-east of the Duomo. The site, when first chosen, was in marshland outside the city walls. It is the burial place of some of the most illustrious Italians, such as Michelangelo, Galileo, Machiavelli, the poet Foscolo, the philosopher Gentile and the composer Rossini, thus it is known also as the Temple of the Italian Glories (Tempio dell'Itale Glorie).

Je verwacht in een synagoge geen Moorse stijl gekenmerkt door hoefijzerboogvormige bogen in de muren en ramen.
Ik wilde diepte in mijn foto, dat geeft een mooi effect. M.i. is dat hier goed gelukt.
