This picture was taken on my first roll of film from a HOLGA 120 GCFN I just purchased. I used color slide film and the image has been cross processed. I just love this horse who is only a 5 minute walk from my house. I bribed him with carrots ;) haha Dan and I nicknamed him Starlite :)
I have been loving taking film lately. It helps limit my photographs and teaches me to be more mindful when taking pictures. Otherwise I tend to take 100s on digital. Although it is hard waiting to see the results in the modern world of instant gratifcation it is exciting too as you just never know what you are going to get.

June 2021: Word from my sign buddies is that the Starlite Drive-In is in trouble. It hasn't shown movies for a long time but it has operated as a swap meet location. Now, the entire property apparently looks abandoned and there are real estate signs up, I hear. There is concern the sign may not make it, and is vulnerable to being vandalized right now. Such sad news to hear. It's such an amazing sign -- the neon is missing and so are a lot of the bulbs, but it is absolutely striking to see in person.

I chatted with the security guard as I was shooting this old beauty (with the missing neon tubes but that gorgeous bulb-filled -- well, almost -- star) on Rosemead, trying to get info from him regarding the history of this drive in. "Just a swap meet, no more movies," he said repeatedly. "No movies!"
He didn't understand I knew that and was only looking for historical info. At least he was really nice :-)

UPDATE: A fellow photographer shared a photo he recently took of this ticket booth, and it has sadly been stripped of it's lettering, star and light post, and graffiti has been scrawled across the front of it.
