A bridge I cross on one day a month coming home from work. I stopped but didn't get out of the car as I was blocking the road. Fortunately on this road the traffic is sparse. Just opened in Adobe Camera Raw without further post.
Have a good day and thanks if you have time for a comment.
Edit: I have to correct myself sorry. The sky has had post in this selectively. The bridge is across Lake Mahinerangi inland from Dunedin.
It has been a little while since I brought my Eric Cartman figure anywhere... So, on my drive up to Spray Lakes... I had the bright idea to entitle the photo Stark's Pond as it is featured in South Park cartoon and video game series.
Today it's hard to see it like this, all burnt down, and imagine it will be pretty once more. But nature has an amazing way of fixing itself and already there are signs of life again with grasses and plants growing up out of the ashes.
If only we had politicians in this country with the same determination to get on in life we might have a better country to live in. For the moment they bog us down in a pit of neverending despair because they can't see the light. Parliament needs to be burnt down, and a new and fresh type of government be allowed to establish roots and thrive for the benefit of us all. Burn all the dead wood now!
The starkness of winter...

Came across this swamp land in a clearing and was struck by the bleach white cadavers of trees. A stark reminder of how fragile nature truly is.

Canadian National train 101 exits Tunnel 54.8 and crosses the Thompson river in stark and scenic Black Canyon just west of Ashcroft, British Columbia, on September 24, 2015.
This is the first image I made in Amish, TN. I was very nervous and didn't know if picture-taking would be something that offended or not (I know they don't want their faces shot), so I was trying to be furtive and couldn't plan POV's, angles, etc. This was in the drive-way while my husband was talking to the farmer. This silo and very simple composition is the essence of their lives - plain and necessary. I am glad the birds were there as a nice little embellishment to the stark lines.
Winter windstorms damaged a number of trees in an exposed location. They're now fodder for the chainsaw and someone's wood pile. Seen near Ballinrobe, Co. Mayo, Ireland.
it’s helpful to return to bare bones: texture and shape. simplicity can be powerful—in photography and life. like a deep breath or a loving hug.

This photo was taken at the wildfire ruins near Medicine Lake, Jasper National Park. A lighting strike started the fire July 2015. The fire burned over 10 days and nearly 1,000 hectares of land. Although fire was a regular part of the ecosystem, it could take years to bring colours back to a stark landscape of blackened trees and charred earth.
Happy Halloween!
