Borage officinalis, also known as starflower, is an annual herb in the flowering plant family Boraginaceae. It is native to the Mediterranean region, and has naturalized in many other places.
It grows satisfactorily in gardens in most of Europe, such as Denmark, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and Ireland, remaining in the garden from year to year by self-seeding. The leaves are edible and the plant is grown in gardens for that purpose in some parts of Europe.
The plant is also commercially cultivated for borage seed oil extracted from its seeds. (Wikipedia) Montenaken, Belgium.

Bee Bread, also know as Borage or Starflower, has bright blue star shaped flowers, white prickly hairs and bristly stems and leaves. It is a favourite of honey bees and bumblebees, one of the latter is busy in the only flower of the bunch which is open at present. This specimen along with other of its kind are growing happily in the ‘grow wild’ patch of land in the village. Another shot taken in the breeze with my phone.
Thank you for your visit and your comments, they are greatly appreciated.
Another one of my favorite spring wildflowers. If I see these while out on a walk I'm compelled to take their picture even though I have a lot already.
I hope everyone enjoys this image! :^)

Continuing with my A-Z project. For letter B I chose a beautiful wild flower that is blooming here right now. Borago officinalis has the common name Starflower for its star-shaped blue flowers.

White & Black Ornithogalum Arabicum, otherwise known as Arabian Starflowers, are members of the Hyacinth family that happily produce clusters of fragrant white flowers, each accented by a glossy black center.
As a Mediterranean native, Ornithogalum Arabicum takes readily to warm weather and asks for very little attention.

Calytrix is an Australian genus of shrubs known as starflowers. Calytrix depressa is a species from the southwest of Western Australia. The petals are either mauve to violet or yellow. The calyx lobes have prominent awns that extend well-beyond the extent of the petals, a feature that I find gives them a natural elegance. florabase.dpaw.wa.gov.au/browse/profile/5450
Borage (Borago officinalis), also known as starflower, is an annual herb in the flowering plant family Boraginaceae native to the Mediterranean region. Although the plant contains small amounts of pyrrolizidine alkaloids, some parts are edible and its seeds provide oil.

The name of this flower is Camas and they are in bloom right now. I just don’t like their name so I’m going to pull an Anne Shirley for the title of this photo.

The story of the singing Bell, the knowing Starflower and Suleika, the Beauty
for my Friend Allan Bee
My cousin Melisma wanted to do something nice for a friend of hers and had him pick out a shot from my stream. You can imagine my joy when he picked this shot that I posted 5 years ago which was one of the first attempts at blending images of which I am not very good at ( and still not good at).Spent 5 hours re-editing it so we could blow it up 24x36 and print it on metal. I baked in a lot of my sharpening back then so I had to go back to the raw files and start from scratch. I am happy with the new edit and he is happy with his print so overall, today was a good day
Borage flowers are usually blue, but occasionally it's possible to find pink blossoms. This one was growing from a wall, so it was easy to get underneath and photograph it against the blue sky.
Flower 27/100 for the project "100 flowers 2025"
It was a TREACHEROUS road to this borage flower picture. Apparently borage is supposed to be pretty easy to grow, but I had about 20 borage seedlings die in 2024, and a similar loss this year -- except three surviving seedlings, which soon reduced to one....which is the plant you see here. I think the issue might have been that I started them indoors, and the seedlings are fragile and don't handle transplantation well, though I'm not sure.
