Lumiya - Dark Lady of the Sith at Star Wars Celebration V

Comic books <3 (Star Wars - A Marvel Super Special No. 27, Vol.1)

In the wake of the Galactic Empire, Mas Amedda delivers a swift message to the populace of Jedi treachery, praising the Emperor for seeing through their lies as the infamous weapons of their order are destroyed.

Mas Amedda: “Never again will we fear the Jedi! Through the grace of our Emperor Palpatine, we were saved from their treachery.”

Palpatine: “Do you know why our blades are red, Lord Vader?”

Vader: “No, master. The Jedi teachings on this subject were… incomplete.”

Palpatine: “Ha! The fools hid the knowledge they found uncomfortable. They could not face the darker truths, and they paid the price. A red saber is no different than any other except… …it has been made to bleed.”

Mas Amedda: “The Jedi are gone. The Emperor saw through their separatist plots, their lies. He survived their attempt to assassinate him. And now, at last… …we are safe. Never again will their instruments of oppression terrorize the galaxy.”

Palpatine: “The crystal from any Jedi’s saber will do. As you know, the kybers are alive, in their way. Like any living thing, they can feel pain. Through the dark side, you must pour your pain into the crystal and when, at last, the agony becomes more than it can stand… …a beautiful crimson. The color of your rage.”

Mas Amedda: “We have entered a new age. An age of freedom! Thus tyranny ends!

Palpatine: “Freedom. Hnh. None of them understand it. None but you and I. Do you understand, Lord Vader?

Vader: “Yes. You could’ve given me any one of those lightsabers to corrupt. Even Yoda’s. But you did not. The saber of a Sith is not given. It is taken.”

Credit where credit is due to the duo over at FJJ Customs for the fantastic Mas Amedda minifigure design utilized in the build. While I was almost leaning towards getting a custom, it was just too perfect when I found the purist rendition of Palpatine’s aid.

While filming Star Wars, George Lucas tries some options for Darth Vader's final look.

All her costumes came from the comics. The pose was from a panel in one of the issues where she is running. The set has 26 sheets of clothes. I enjoyed drawing all the costumes from the comics. I was using Photoshop to update the pages and color her but because of Microsoft updating my system, the software stopped working and I had to remove it from my tablet.

I'd like to post the entire comic but due to copyright issues I don't want to take the risk. I have all of the original issues, I never bought the comics after the originals. I'll be posting some of the pages but not the complete comic, as I said.

I remember when the issues first came out but it wasn't until Return of the Jedi that I decided to get every comic. At the time I thought that was all there would be. I was wrong. In all honesty, I like the original trilogy the best. Like other fans I waited for the other movies but they disappointed me, a lot. Especially the last three. I just didn't like how Luke was treated. I don't feel that he would have given up all hope and become a 'hermit'. As for a woman taking over the role...she never learned anything. She knew how to use a lightsaber, how to pilot the Falcon, even better than Han, she was the perfect hero AND she was related to the Emperor Palpatine.

I think Lucas lost the 'magic' he had with the middle trilogy. To me, there wasn't that magic in the story of Anakin Skywalker. I feel he should have shown a shorter version of him as a young boy and have Anakin older when he met Princess Amadala.

I'd actually given up on Lucas making the prequels and sequels, then when he did I was eager to see them, only to feel disappointed. So the middle three will always be the best to me. I never tire of watching them and, sadly, have seen them so many times, I know them word for word.

The issue is larger than a normal comic so I had to piece it together.

The legendary Stan Sakai and I at Baltimore Comic Con 2025. he signed the issue of Star Wars Tales where he wrote a story and it is the first full appearance of Jedi Master Kit Fisto.

That is was, the ultimate space fantasy. I liked Star Trek, I watched the television series but it didn't leave an impact with me like Star Wars did.
