With todays developments in the Ukraine my curiosity of what is happening in this image has been re invoked, I would welcome any insight or translation of the text on the board or any insight into the purpose of the gathering, which was quiet and peaceful. I am presuming they are celebrating Vladimir Lenin or the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) and may have been calling for a return to the political system of the USSR.
What I know today is that Russia is a different place, and yet it it a very brave person who takes to the street to protest, but protest they do, with media control being exerted in Russia as we speak I wonder who is able to see this, but if you are Russian and can see this please take note, the people most likely to stop Putins war in Ukraine is you, be brave, & find your voice.
This is not Russia's war it is Putins war and Putin's alone, he believes he will not be defeated, though he is wrong, He has already lost, defeat will not come from the west but from within Russia. Already he looks desperate with his special military operation progressing slower than expected, with soldiers miss informed, ill prepared & not equipped for war and every day, every hour the fight continues he will becomes weaker,
The battleground is with his own population who despite his efforts to convince them otherwise will not be fooled, many of them have with them a powerful weapon, the internet, the mobile phone. with this they have access to the most powerful resource in the World: information and access and social media, with which they can find the truth. Sentiment will grow and soon we will see protests on the streets of Moscow, St Petersburg & beyond, once lit the flame will keep burning, sometimes brighter than others, his own people will see him for what he is and intervene, though the question to me is how long will this take and how will Putin himself react to this.
truthfully I point know but I feel sure Putinswar will be the end of Putin and the rebuiling of relations between the East and West, what we are seeing here today will change the world and whilst it will be dirty and messy in the short term, in the longer term it will have ramifications for generations to come.
find your voice and change the world for the better, from within your own country. You the native Russians are the ones who can and will stop Putins war.

On the evening of May 8th (May 9th in Russia), a group led by Benjamin Wittes projected on the facades of the Russian Ambassador's residence complex on 16th St. The Russians, who knew about this in advance, had set up to counter the projections by projecting a "Z" to cover the pro-Ukrainian projections, but with moving the projections around, the group succeeding in projecting the Ukrainian flag and some slides.
