I created these stamps in honor of Barry McGee aka Twist aka Ray Fong aka Bernon Vernon aka Lydia Fong aka Robert Pimple... am I forgetting any aliases?
I personally really love these and am pretty proud of myself. I wish they were real. They'd be the only stamps I'd ever use again.
To renew my passport, I have to turn in my old stamp-filled book marking 10 years' worth of travel. Goodbye, reminders of trips to London, Amsterdam, Brussels, Italy, France, Poland, Prague, Montreal!
"In photography, the smallest thing can be a great subject. The little human detail can become a Leitmotiv." ~ Henry Cartier Bresson
I ran into Roger on the Deer Brook Trail. There was a lot of commotion occurring with some crew running up hill to tie loose ends on a trail section near-complete, while others headed down hill to help align the next big unit of work. But Roger was clearly anchoring the main site, and this left a subtle impression on me. In the middle of all of the bustle occurring around him, he quietly pushed on, aligning boulders with rock bar to create a solid, level walking tread to keep people's feet dry and to help protect the soils along Deer Brook from erosion. All of Roger’s effort came stamped with discreet purpose and his own dependability and placidity. Even with just my short time around him, I could never imagine Roger with much of a complaint. I observed several instances of crew members looking for extra hands to help with their individual tasks. Each time they went to Roger. He always stopped without objection, and with a kind smile, walked over to assist taking measures, to provide some extra muscle moving rock, or to safely guide the specific activity. …and then back again to his own work. The dominant reoccurring theme at Deer Brook was Roger going about business in his own quiet, understated way, which to my eyes was reflected back in the seamless utility and beauty of the crew's trail improvements.
Happy 100th birthday NPS!

A stamp of Shanna's quilt block because I'm so so so tardy sending them off, I really wanted to pop something extra in there for her.

Yes, Stamp Stair, not Stairs. These stairs are located in the Somerset House, London. I really like these stone stairs because they are only supported by the walls.
If you are at the Somerset House you should go see the Tim Walker photo exhibition. His amazing work and props he uses for his fashion shoots.
Stampers Bar is a former Post Office of classical design by architect J P Alison (1862-1932), who was Hawick's most prominent architect. He first set up his practice in North Bridge Street in 1887 and the Post Office is one of his earlier commissions before he changed direction later in his career to concentrate more on private villas.
When first built in 1892 the entire building was single storey but a second storey was added to the N end in 1904, presumably for accommodation. In 1972 the sorting office moved to St George's Lane and this building was sold in 1993 to become Stamper's pub.
These scanned stamps from Iraq, Iran, Turkey and Tunisia are from my collection and are part of a blog post: Stamps from Iraq, Iran, Turkey, and Tunisia.
Bread stamps with religious symbols (Egypt, c. 1100-1200) at the British Museum in London, United Kingdom.
Bead stamps have been around since the Roman era and were used for a variety of purposes including as a mark of ownership when baking dough in a communal oven, as a sort of brand name used by professional bakers or as mark of quality.
Bread-stamping sometimes also had a religious background, e.g. marking bread as kosher in Judaism (often using a stamp depicting a menorah). In both Coptic and Greek Orthodox Christianity stamps were also used to mark communion bread. Whether the Star of David and the fish/ichthys on these stamps from Fatamid Egypt point to such a use or just the faith of their owners remains unclear.
According to the description at the museum, the bottom stamp's Arabic inscription can be translated as "eat with enjoyment", resembling the slogans used on our modern day food packaging.
The different cutters for the Kelley-How-Thomson Co. Both are from no. 2-size planes, the cutter that was made by Stanley was stamped on the front and back sides with the HICKORY brand name.
Note: the red & blue "KHT" logo was scanned from Kelley-How's 1941 catalogue cover.

Rick Crowle’s Stamp Collection
Manifest of Boxes set aside for selling at a reputable Auction House specialising in stamp collections or on eBay (e.g. AH 00 – 06, AH16, AH17)
Notes:
1. It would be well worthwhile having an opinion from the local stamp group as to whether the contents in some of these boxes are appropriate for auctioning, e.g. old auction catalogues.
2. Any boxes destined for an Auction House need to be well taped to avoid damage in transit
3. Boxes destined for sale (at an Auction House or on eBay) are labelled with a box code starting with AH
4. For Details of Auction Houses (country, phone number and email address) where Rick has received Auction Catalogues and may have purchased items or have and account (or which maybe could sell Rick’s items?) see separate list.
