un-forgetting spaces
This drawing explores the potential of the under-used, the forgotten about, or the wasted. It is part of a wider proposal to consider residual, peripheral spaces as vibrant urban spaces. It suggests there be life under M74, and seeks to take advantage of its spacial characteristics.

We're on Walk No. 4 in the book (I think it's our walk no. 6) Crystal Palace to Streatham. Most of our Capital Ring walks seem to pass a big house. This is the remaining wing of Norwood Grove built in 1840. We've passed through the remains of ancient indigenous woodland and seen some fine old (and probably imported) trees in the grounds. We speculate about history and ecology, but the main message is that we enjoyed our walk on a crisp and sunny December day.
These 4 are also before the start of stage 4 of the 2010 Cycling Tour Down Under. This one started in our area, so I got down early before the start to get a good position. Didn't realise how good until close to the action. The stunning grid girls and the lucky kiss were one thing, but then to meet and have a chat with a cycling legend like Phil Ligget was a thrill. More was to come as I was literally 1 metre from the sign in board when they set it up - thus some great shots of the cyclists to come!
