ESSLINGEN, St. Dionys Kirche , Stadtkirche.
Vor dem Bau der evangelischen Stadtkirche St. Dionys gab es im 8. Jahrhundert die einschiffige Vitalis-Kirche. Sie wurde bereits Mitte des 9. Jahrhunderts durch einen Neubau ersetzt. Die heutige Kirche wurde während des 13. und 14. Jahrhunderts im gotischen Stil erbaut und enthält etliche Besonderheiten und Sehenswürdigkeiten. Beispiele sind die ungewöhnliche Doppelturmanlage, die berühmten Chorfenster, der gotische Lettner und die Orgel mit dem einmaligen Fernwerk.

Wittenberg an der Elbe ist eine Universitätsstadt in Sachsen-Anhalt im Osten Deutschlands. Hier lebte der Reformator Martin Luther. Der Marktplatz bietet viel Sehenswertes. Im Hintergrund sieht man die Stadtkirche, links das wunderschöne Rathaus, im Vordergrund das Luther-Denkmal.

Es gibt Fotomotive, bei denen ich unheimlich froh bin Pirna meine Heimat nennen zu kennen. Der Blick vom Schlossberghang zur Stadtkirche St. Marien gehört da definitiv dazu!

Was in Celle in the city church. There is a "room of silence" where I have not been before. So I stayed a while and lit a light for "world peace".
War in Celle in der Stadtkirche. Da gibt es einen "Raum der Stille", wo ich vorher noch nie war. Da habe ich ein wenig verweilt und ein Licht für den "Weltfrieden" angezündet.

Der gotische gewölbte Chor und die Sakristei der Kirche Unserer Lieben Frau wurden zwischen 1356 und 1402 errichtet.
Durch eine Verbreiterung des Kirchenschiffes entstanden bis 1432 fünf gotische Spitzbögen an der nördlichen Mittelschiffwand. Der nördliche romanische Bläserturm, auf dem der Turmbläser wohnte, war ursprünglich ein Wachturm an der Stadtmauer und kein Bestandteil der Kirche. Parallel dazu wurde ein gotischer Südwestturm für die Glocken erbaut.
Beim großen Stadtbrand im Dreißigjährigen Krieg wurde die Kirche 1634 nach der Schlacht bei Nördlingen schwer zerstört. Beim Wiederaufbau von 1650 bis 1655 entstand die Oberwand mit frühbarocken Pilastern und Ochsenaugenfenstern. Das Mittelschiff bekam eine flache Muldendecke mit Stichkappen, die Seitenschiffe wurden flachgedeckt mit Gurtbögen. Das mächtige Dach wurde auf der Nordseite über das Seitenschiff geführt und auf der Südseite basilikal umgestaltet. Der Bläserturm konnte repariert werden. Der schwer beschädigte Glockenturm wurde abgebrochen und 1710 im Stil des Barock in seiner heutigen Form neu errichtet.
Die frühbarocke Innenausstattung ist für eine evangelische Kirche ungewöhnlich umfangreich. 1821 erhielt der Chor eine flache Gipsdecke und das Schiff ein Flachtonnengewölbe. Die Renovierung von 1904 bis 1906 stellte die Wölbung des Chors wieder her und fügte mit Orgelprospekt, Ausmalung des Chors, farbigen Glasfenstern, zwei Radleuchtern und Gestühl Jugendstilelemente hinzu.
Orgel - Das Jugendstil-Instrument auf der Westempore wurde im Jahre 1906 von der Giengener Orgelmanufaktur Gebr. Link erbaut und steht heute unter Denkmalschutz. Es ist weitgehend unverändert erhalten und die einzige große Orgel Süddeutschlands aus der Spätromantik. Sie hat einen orchestralen Klang und verfügt über eine Vielzahl verschiedener Flötenregister und Streicher.
