Popped into the St. Pete Brewing tap house to enjoy this Weedon Island Brown (6.2% ABV). Weedon Island is an unspoiled mangrove nature reserve abutting Tampa Bay in NE St. Pete.

Developed in the site of an orange grove during the 1920s’ Florida property boom, houses were constructed in a variety of architectural styles. This example is on 14th Street N.

This looks like a very recent construction in the Crescent Lake District of NE St. Pete, but its uncluttered design harks back to the Bauhaus School of Weimar Germany, a full century earlier.

Commercial vessels are only occasional visitors to the Port of St. Pete, but the 2,854 dwt MV Joint Frost is currently berthed here. The reefer ship is owned by Seatrade and is registered in Curacao.

One of the few remaining Queen Anne houses from the earliest days in downtown St. Pete is now overshadowed by high-rise condos.

Seen in Old Northeast St. Pete. A very good friend and former colleague made his fortune as a commodity trader. (He had more courage than I did in venturing into that high-risk field.) My friend actually celebrated the end of a troubled marriage by treating himself to a new Aston Martin. The car alas was stolen, but its tracking device ensured its speedy recovery. The experience however killed any possible pleasure from owning an Aston Martin and my friend soon disposed of the car, replacing it with something more ordinary.

A reassuring message outside the Vertical Ventures establishment in St. Pete. Vertical Ventures offers indoor climbing experiences as well as fitness and yoga sessions. I don’t see a lazy oldie like me as part of their target demographic.

The St Pete Elks Lodge is again the venue for a classic car, this time an an Ohio-registered Oldsmobile 2-door from 1964.

The suits of armour and other knightly weaponry may be missing, but St. Pete's historic downtown Post Office has the air of a baronial hall.

This St. Pete district is bounded by 16th Street N to the west, MLK Boulevard to the east and to the north and south by 22nd Avenue and 9th Avenue N respectively was developed in the 1920s on the site of a former orange grove. It comprises houses of varying architectural styles, exemplified by this one in 14th Avenue N.

Ready to capture the lunchtime business in downtown St. Pete.
