Spyro the Dragon

Spyro 2: Ripto's Rage!
Spyro has been brought to the land of Avalar to defeat the evil sorcerer Ripto who has brought war to Avalar’s Homeworlds. Each Homeworld is being held captive by Ripto and his minions, and it's up to Spyro to defeat them and bring peace to Avalar’s realms. In this adventure, Spyro powerflames, supershots and headbashes his way through enemies while completing unique challenges such as herding strange beasts, target shooting and defeating ravenous dinosaurs.
Spyro: Year of the Dragon
The Dragon Realms are celebrating the ‘Year of the Dragon’ when a mysterious cloaked figure emerges to steal all the Dragon Eggs. Under the spell of the evil Sorceress, an army of Rhynocs is now guarding the helpless eggs in the Forgotten Realms. With new and old friends, Spyro is on a quest to recover the lost eggs, defeat the Rhynoc army and stop the evil Sorceress. Turn up the heat in this adventure by exploring the mysterious realms and completing outrageous challenges, such as pulling off sick tricks on a skateboard and stepping into a boxing ring.
Having recently rediscovered all the old things I used to love as a child (from the Nineties), I recently had an overwhelming urge to build one of my favourite video game characters ever. Spyro the Dragon. This MOC is based on the appearance of classic Nineties Playstation 1 Spyro (not Skylanders Spyro, I wish classic Spyro would come back! Then I'd have a reason to buy a Playstation 4 :oP ). Built in LDD (was going to be a real-life model until I realised the lack of purple Technic and CCBS meant the end result would look nothing like Spyro) and rendered using Bluerender. The model took about 8 hours to build. And as a little extra, I've also built his faithful companion Sparx the Dragonfly, in his full health colours.

#6578 - 2026 Day 3/365: The last album we played last night is there this morning, doing exactly what it says on the cover. I first discovered Spyro Gyra in 1978, and I still love their music. They were responsible for awakening my intense love of Jazz, which was formed as a child, hearing Miles Davis and Dave Brubeck, and then lay dormant through my impressionable teens.
I believe this sign, a local icon of sorts, was constructed for a club/bar that celebrated the 1920s, called "The 20's", beginning in the 1960s -1970s.The sign lived on to serve a bar and a live music venue (Jazz Fusion group Spyro Gyra played there.) Then in the 1990s a gentleman's club opened called "The 20's Showgirl" and they continued to use the sign until they closed in 2016. I found this at A&R Salvage and Recycling in 2017 and I reckon it's for sale.
I know, I know. It's a very touristy / vacation shot, but what the hay. It was hot and I really didn't feel like getting too creative. I just love the renovation that is taking place and stopped by to check on progress...
Spiridon "Spyros" Louis (January 1873 – 26 March 1940) was a Greek water-carrier who won the first modern-day Olympic marathon at the 1896 Summer Olympics, in Athens, thereby becoming a national hero.
The marathon, the most popular and revered of
all events on the sporting calendar, owes its existence to Michel Bréal.
It was Bréal, who suggested this race be included in
the first modern Olympic Games held in Athens in 1896, and
created a special cup to be awarded to the winner.

Really excited to share my newest LEGO creation: Spyro the Dragon from the Spyro-Series.
Spyro is probably the most iconic character I tackled so far. As you probably know, if you have been following me for a while, I pushed myself to build more and more organic creations. So it was fitting for me to build someone like Spyro next! His cartoony and charming looks were quite challenging to reproduce in bricks.
Spyro has had slightly different colours throughout the years. So I settled for a dark purple, because of the availability and since it is the closest color to his look in "Spyro Reignited Trilogy".
He also has some limited movement: The head can turn, the legs can rotate, the wings can move and the eyebrows can be lowered and raised independently.
I also wanted to include as many references to the game series as possible. The pedestal is inspired by the Artisans world, the first location in the first game. And since Spyro is essentially a "collectathon", I had to include a platform with some red gems.
And I also build his companion Sparx, to show that he is at full health ;)
Spyros were on Northolt Road, Harrow,north west London when this image was taken in 2011, still a hairdressers from 2014 onwards known as Millie's Hair Lounge.
The signage seems to have an older name but i can't make out which preceded Spyros.

I was never a "cat-person" but thru the persistence of my wife and daughter , this little lady have found a place in my heart...

Spyros Achilleos Kyprianou (28 October 1932 – 12 March 2002) was a Cypriot barrister and politician, who served as President of Cyprus from 1977 to 1988. He also served as President of the Cypriot House of Representatives from 1976 to 1977 and then again from 1996 to 2001, as well as being President of the Democratic Party, which he founded, from 1976 to 2000. As President, he considerably expanded Cyprus' presence on the international stage. He entered office in acting capacity following the death of President Makarios III in 1977, before being elected unopposed for the rest of Makarios' term in the resulting by-election the following month. He was elected for the next full term in 1978, again unopposed, and re-elected for a second full term 1983, but lost his bid to secure a third full term in 1988.

Σαν άνθρωπος ήταν το γατί
Κάτω στο πάτωμα στην αυλή που καθόμασταν τρία πολύ μικρά γατάκια έπαιζαν, χαϊδεύονταν στα πόδια μας και νιαούριζαν. Ο κυρ Σπύρος είπε κάποια στιγμή ότι θα τα εξαφανίσει, τι να τα κάνει εκεί μέσα στα πόδια του, θα πατήσει και κανένα.
Μετά είπε για μια γάτα που είχε κάποτε πριν χρόνια.
Κάτι παιδιά απ’το χωριό είχαν βρει ένα νεογέννητο, το είχαν βάλει σε ένα κουτί και το πήγαιναν λέει να το ρίξουν στο ποτάμι. Τους το πήρε το γατάκι και το πήγε σπίτι του. Το «ανέστησε» το γατί μας είπε με περηφάνια, μέχρι που του έδωσε να πιει γάλα με μπιμπερό !
Το γατί μεγάλωσε και είχε μια μεγάλη παράξενη ουρά, όχι σαν τις άλλες γάτες. Σαν αλεπού ήταν. Και ήταν και πολύ έξυπνη. Αυτό δα μας το είπε τρεις τέσσερις φορές ανοίγοντας διάπλατα τα μάτια του : «Κοπέλια, σαν άνθρωπος ήταν το γατί».
«Σαν άνθρωπος ήταν το γατί και είχε μια ουρά φουντωτή και μεγάλη, σαν ζουρίδα !»
Έπειτα μια μέρα την βρήκε ψόφια, την είχαν δηλητηριάσει. Έκλαψε μας είπε για την γάτα και τα μάτια του έγιναν υγρά και πάλι.
Καθώς έλεγε αυτές τις τελευταίες κουβέντες, τελείως αυθόρμητα έπιασε το ένα γατί που στεκόταν εκείνη την ώρα δίπλα από τα πόδια του, το πήρε πάνω του και άρχισε να το χαϊδεύει.
Καλά είπα χαμογελώντας εγώ, σιγά μη τα εξαφανίσει τα γατάκια ο «σκληρός» Κυρ Σπύρος.
Story Two
That cat was a human
On the floor there were 3 kitties playing around. Mr. Spyros said that he must get rid of them because, what he would do otherwise with these kitties?
Then he said about one cat that he had once. Some boys found a newborn kitty, they put it in a box and were about to throw it in the river. He stopped the boys from doing it, and took that kitty along with him.
Then he said to me with pride that he “raised” that kitty, he even gave to this little creature milk with a baby’s bottle !
With the years, the kitty became a very clever beautiful big cat, with an unusual big tufted tail. That tail wasn’t like other cats tails; it was more like a fox’s.
So clever was that cat, that Mr. Spyros noted to me three or four times along his narration : “that cat was a human !”, “that cat was a human !”.
Then one day he found it poisoned, dead.
He cried back then and one tear was ready to come out as he was telling these words.
As he was finishing this story, instinctively, he took one kitty from the ground, the one that was standing by his feet and started caress it.
