Built in 2020 for entry into the Innovalug Style it Up contest - I built a little base for it and added a custom printed brick last year for Creations for Charity but sadly little Robo guy never sold. Maybe he'll have better luck this year :)
Febrovery 2024 no.15
Rover School is in session...
Another rover type we were introduced to in Basic Rover Operations 101 was the message interception rover.
This example was built by Spyrius TeleCom Inc, the telecommunications mega-conglomerate. They use rovers like this one to monitor civilian communication on planets all around the galaxy.
Our teacher explained that this is done for our safety and is perfectly legal. The information that they collect is used to form the algorithms that direct us to the things they know we would enjoy or find useful. They also monitor communications to weed out any potential troublemakers.
Besides, you agreed to it when you ticked the little box marked "Terms of Service".

SR-30 Spectre
Spyrius ground assault vehicle with jet engines that allow it to reach supersonic speeds. It has 4-wheel drive, 4-wheel steering, V6 engine and dual-sided suspension on both the top and bottom. Inspired by the racing games Grip and Rollcage, it can flip over and drive upside down on a tunnel ceiling.
From the super sleek of my previous spaceship to the super curvy of this one. I just had to try this with those lovely newish curved pieces. I've also been wanting to do a dark turquoise build for ages, as it's one of my favourite Lego colours. Pleased with how it came together! I also realised in building this how much I like the old helicopter windshield.
UPDATE: I've made this a Lego Ideas Project! If you like it, please vote for it to become a real Lego set by clicking here!
I now want to do an M:Tron variant of this design...
I've received this amazing Spyrius Robot (set 6889) from BL yesterday. I've always think his head has a great potential for comedy, so I took this little funny picture ^^
The prototype version of the captain of my yet-to-be-posted spaceship. I love this guy's stereotypical Firefly-esque captain look.
Jeffrey Sparrick is well-renowned throughout the galaxy for his smuggling activities. He and his ship Feigned Ignorance have seen regions of space few others have seen. He is cunning, but not ruthless, and knows when to quit. His Achilles heel is uncontrollable; his fame leads many to want him dead. It is rumored that he sometimes routes supplies to Captain Blue Star, and he maintains the story that he once made a delivery of 1,000 Futuron Moon Pies to the Nerds in Space set, though no one believes him.
Likes: Women (not too fast, not too slow), money, action films, leisurely piloting Feigned Ignorance, power naps, and spacewalks.
Dislikes: Knife fights, hallucinogens, members of Spyrius, losing crew members, and (MS2):Mars Species 2.
There comes a time when every Lego fan submits a project to Lego Ideas. For me, that time has come!
I would really appreciate your vote so that this build might one day become a real set:

This build got a lot of nice comments on Flickr, Reddit and Instagram so I decided to make it into a Lego Ideas submission. It's very difficult for non movie or TV based projects to gather enough support on there, so I'm attempting to buck the trend of IP Ideas!
I couldn't help but make reference to M:Tron and Blacktron in this build, and hopefully new trans-yellow parts would be a nice side effect of this project being made. Unfortunately modern magnet pieces are rather bulky because of a change in the law, so that part might need a bit of refining. G and H are mine and my fiancée's initials; so the project has a little extra personal resonance for me too! More photos to come over the coming days.
"Pilot H and Pilot G were two of the bravest explorers the Federation had ever known. Working together as an inseparable team, they had flown to the farthest reaches of the galaxy in their Bubble Scout ships, discovering distant star systems, retrieving valuable artefacts, whilst always evading the rogues living at the edge of the Galaxy."
For FebRovery 2025, I made an infiltration rig for the Spyrius Faction, with a fun transformation feature.
This Spyrius droid (Major Kartofski) from 1994 always been one of my favorite LEGO minifigure. Interesting color scheme, transparent helmet and cute robotic smile. All these details make this droid quite unique.
Built for the Eurobricks Classic Space Era Spaceship Contest.
Had to be a ship containing a smaller vehicle in the colour scheme of one out of a list of classic themes.Having hit the earliest theme on the list, I thought I'd also go for the latest, my personal 90s favourite: Spyrius!

Light armoured multi-wheel sub-surface data packet collector.
Tiny amounts of data from Futuron, Space Police and M-Tron subspace transmissions can sometimes adhere to subatomic muons and duons. On distant moons, Sprius SPYR-KOLEKTA rovers scan the regolith, hoping to collect and aggregate these data fragments into usable intell...
Uh, I can't find my old Spyrius minfig. They are a shifty faction I guess...
Recent reports of eerie sightings from the edge of the galaxy: turtles, swimming, soaring elegantly through nebulae, as if across liquid oceans. It seems that these craft are able to absorb energy and fundamental particles into their neon shells and then retransmit them through movable fins for propulsion in any direction. Piloted by a race of mysterious robots, these mechanical beings have chosen to replicate natural forms in the designs for their spacecraft.
One of the oldest LEGO set that I remember having owned is the Spyrius set "Recond Robot" (6889). Following that, I remember looking at the LEGO catalog with a strong desire for the bigger robot of the theme "Robo Guardian" (6949).
One of the thing that was particularly appealing is the great droid minifig included. It appeared I never had the chance to get this set as a kid and last year I finally let myself go and bought it on Bricklink. (That said it took me almost a year before I finally took a photo of that amazing droid minifig...)
Allied Spyrius Colonies Luxury Cruiser
Spyrius fleet has many interesting vessels in it, this one can hold events for important members of the galaxy. Currently there is a concert of classic space rock band "The Roaring Jets".
Ship details:
Length: 123 studs
Wingspan: 102 studs
Height: 32 bricks
Two independent cockpits with little rooms and foldable wings
Hangar bay for cargo and little spacecraft
Communication center
Medbay
Crew room with kitchen
Hall of fame with statues of famous Spyrius figures
Two VIP rooms with beds, desks and bathrooms
Shops with snacks and drinks
Event hall with panoramatic roof
maintenace room
10 sliding doors to keep each section safe!
I have always been fascinated by 6973 Deep Freeze Defender and its modularity. There are some cool rebuilds (like this one from mr. Goddard: www.flickr.com/photos/roguebantha/36898632385/in/faves-50... )
So the ship can transform to two ships or use the cocpits as small ships when the big part is somewhere left stationary.
My goal was to keep the modularity options, although I decided to do some changes (leaving out the middle wings and turning the hangar bay around). All sections have sealable doors so they can operate independently. There are two extra engines on sides which detach and can work with the cocpits or with the hangar bay module.

Had a fun weekend with Taka (Storm Lizard) and Mark the Shark and managed to mix fireworks with LEGO. Taka literally burned his hand though. Wish him well and speedy recovery.
M:Tron recolour of my original teal Bubble Scout in all its bubbly glory. Now 20% bubblier due to that canopy, and comes with a deluxe attachable/detachable magnet.
This is also a Lego Ideas project, so I would really appreciate your vote so that it build might one day become a real boy set!:
For this Febrovery, I bring to you the space beetle 😄
This mobile lab/transport is used by the not so popular anymore space spies.
Thanks to all my followers on Instagram, who helped decide which faction will I use this year.

Something a bit different!
I think these were amongst the first Space MOCs I built after my dark ages, and they're relatively simple, but I'm still keen on them. They've been hanging out on my shelf for the last few years. Trans-neon green and dark blue were always my favourites as a kid.
My building process usually involves trying to understand and accentuate (even celebrate!) the unique design of Lego elements, rather than trying to disguise their qualities. Even the unpopular large parts have a lot of fascinating possibilities geometrically and aesthetically, far beyond their usage in sets. What large Lego parts are you a fan of?
Actually a build from last year, didn't put much thought into it.
This is probably going to be my last upload for a while, I haven't really had much time for this sort of stuff.
That and my stupid roomba knocked over one of my expensive special lamps.
Seriously, screw Skynet.
Mayday, Spyrius forces are attacking the monorail! We already lost a railcar and need immediate assistance!
We can't help you right now, our surveillance fighters are under heavy fire. They're everywhere!
This is one of my contributions to the Mini-Moonbase contest at Berlin SteineWAHN! 2021, a collaborative micro Classic Space project based on a 10x10 grid.
This one pays homage to one of my favourite space series as a child, specifically two amazing sets therefrom. I never owned the robot myself, but I had the big saucer as well as the smaller one and I loved both of them. And a moonbase needs a monorail anyway, so what better target for the Spyrius, since attacking a monorail (specifically the Unitron one from the same period) was a common story setting in the catalogues of the time.
If I got a little money to do this, I'd start it up regularly again. :) Who would be mildly interested in a Patreon?

It looks like Blacktron has plagiarized the design of CIRCorp's Backblast! How they came by the plans for the Backblast is unknown but speculations range from Spyrius involvement to CIRCorp themselves selling them the plans to make the all important profit.
I organized and built! I've wanted to do this for a while now and it feels great to finally post something after a long time. Go Blacktron!
What is your favourite 90s space vehicle and why is is Solar Snooper? :)
I have been on a mission of building giant space vehicles for so many years and I still enjoy it. I think I have rebuild Solar Snooper 4 times already. You can find many similarities with my older builds, but this is the first time I have done one in Spyrius colors. And there is no better time to present it than Febrovery! :)
This planetary exploration rig has steering on two front axles (with different radius) and suspension on rear three axles.
Front can open and let out two speeders for scouting. 2nd and 3rd level of windshields is for drivers and navigators. The top floor has a big room with large windows, crane control, communication console and sofa for breaks. In rear section is large landing pad.
Bottom floor has two main entrances on sides between the wheels and equipment room with sliding door. Under the landing pad is a small science laboratory and compartment for smaller vehicle.
I really enjoyed this build and I tried to pack in many play features. I wanted to utilize all the front canopies with different purposes then just seating for 8 figs, hence the opening front part. Furthermore I am really happy with integration of the landing pad.
Almost all of my classic space builds are reinterpretations of original sets. Well, maybe the Spyrius theme was ahead of its time. Set 6889, Recon Robot, seems to be a great counterpart to an Exo-Suit.
Hell yeah.
Fig formula: Hobgoblin head, Nexo Knights Crust Smasher torso, Ben Reilly Spiderman arms, Spyrius Droid hips, LBM Robin legs, Ghost Rider KO fireball
Inspired by the famous Ideas-successful Exo Suit. Thanks, Peter Reid.
Having built an exo-suit in my favourite LEGO space theme, Ice Planet 2002, I decided it would be only fitting to make another, but in the colour of their enemies, the Spyrius!
While I was struggling to find the balance at my last Exo-suit, I think my style evolved into an actual thing with this later one. It was actually built partially in august and completed after a long wait in october.

These trans yellow parts are lego + turmeric, but I would love to have a 4 x 2, or even 2 x 2 panel piece in trans-yellow! Vote for the set, if for no other reason than to get a new trans-yellow piece!
Here is my MOC recap of this year. I made some great builds, made some great afol-friends, and learned so much cool techniques. My YouTube channel also grew twice as much as the previous year, and I'm not planning to slow down.
Have a great 2022, and keep it brickin'
Closeup of the little guy. The proportions of baby turtles give them a cute/goofy quality quite different from the elegance of the adults they become. It was a happy accident that this was reproduced here.

I have been building Spyrius for quite some time, every couple years I build an AX spaceship - intergalactic cruiser which is superior to all previous in some ways. This picture shows their evolution until 2019.

My second and last contribution for this year’s Febrovery. Once again taking inspiration from an old space theme, this time Spyrius. I built a surveillance rover on patrol near a power generator. The dish folds down neatly into the rear and the cabin seats two minifigures.
