This was an Elderhostel Program where we saw several Mariner games, met some of the players, some people got plenty of autographs, souveniers, etc. The spring training was in Phoenix. One afternoon we went to the stadium of the Arizona Diamondbacks and were given a tour of the entire facility. Very, very interesting. Afterward the president of the organization gave us a presentation with a question and answer session afterward. Wonderful afternoon.
The White Sox outfielder in the background had thrown a ball up to the kids in our section. You can see a few of the older kids trying to catch the ball, as the security guard (in the straw hat) was giving the younger fans a lecture about not standing on the fence.
March 1, 2015. The long wait is over. I celebrated the beginning of sprint training by pulling out the 'Angry Jay' shirt for the Tuesday live hangout for my online course. And after the hangout, a delightful afternoon baseball game from Florida.

Miami Marlins visit their Class A affiliate Greensboro Grasshoppers, of the South Atlantic League in North Carolina, playing an exhibition game before ending Spring Training 2015. After this, they would head back to Florida to play Jacksonville Suns, a double A affiliate of the Southern League. Then, they host the Braves in their home opener at Marlins Park.
Miami Marlins pitcher started on the mound for the Greensboro Grasshoppers. It didn;t benefit the Grasshoppers as Giancarlos Stanton crushed one for the first the first run of the game. Miss Babe Ruth, a very well known Greensboro Grasshopper batdog, would also start sort of farewell tour. She would retire after retrieve the lumber after each Grasshopper at bat for 649 consecutive home games, something unique to Baseball in Greensboro.
Baseball thrives in North Carolina. Its in the Major League Baseball conversation of possible cities for expansion. Some other possible areas are Montreal, New Jersey, Portland, and Las Vegas. At this point its too many variables to say when expansion would happen. But, this region continues to be a cradle for future MLB players.
