What an amazing experience it was photographing otters on the west coast

Awful light but... well it's a Nuthatch!

Every morning he serenades our neighbourhood. This morning I got to see the singer. This year, there seem to be three or four of these in full voice. For many years I couldn't recognise the song, but often heard them in the evenings in the woods in the summer. I called them the 'nice to meet you' bird, after one of the phrases in his song had a similar cadence.

Lesser celandine (Ficaria verna / Ranunculus ficaria), A low-growing, hairless perennial plant, with fleshy dark green, heart-shaped leaves. It is more commonly reported to flower from March until May, and is sometimes called the "spring messenger" as a consequence.

Short break from Suffolk, have been out on the local patch too, so here's some of what I've been seeing...

 

Yup, found a nesting pair, so be prepared for quite a few of these! (GSW's were where I really started to learn my way round my first DSLR and got the birding / nature back because of it / them!)
