One of this years youngsters.

On the river Lyon yesterday.

We are very lucky to discover this week that a pair of tree sparrows have decided to build a nest in one of our nest boxes. We had three spent the winter of 2017/18 in our garden, but disappeared last spring. We hadn't seen any since. But on Thursday evening I noticed a bird poking out of the nest box, grabbed my bins and saw that we had tree sparrows! They have spent the weekend taking beakfuls of nesting material in. They seem not to bother about me gardening which is good. Hopefully they will be successful, as these are on the red list.

In Tentsmuir forest this morning.

This wee bird was on the cliffs at Fowlsheugh near Stonehaven a few weeks ago.

Nesting in a box we had out and very wary when they come back with nesting material.

Seem to have a lot of archives... so here are some from earlier in the year.

Came across these boxing hares on the Yorkshire Wolds but unfortunately my lens was not long enough!

Four babies from nest appeared in our garden, not sharp but was curious.

Starling - In my back garden, Bridge of Don, Aberdeen, Scotland.

Aloft in the rafters, this star-performer sings his little heart out, perched precariously on one foot. And boy can this solo songbird sing. Loud and proud, ear-piercingly so at times. there's certainly no escaping Rockin' Robin's tuneful, foot-tapping one bird show. What a star turn too ... :-)).

The second of my head to head of red deer portraits.

This young man was the lord of a small herd of about ten deer. Unlike the more mature brute down the glen this young man was very attentive and affectionate to his companions.

It's always a pleasure to see these beautiful wild animals in their natural environment.
