Three Crocus, growing in the backyard. Crocus are hard to catch here in Atlanta, they close up without direct sunlight and only last for a couple days in bloom before they wither away. I caught these at about 2pm when the sun was on them the strongest, had to block some of the light with my doormat :D . I am attaching another shot of them at 4:00 pm when the shadow of a tree had fallen on them.

These are unedited from the original shot except for cropping.

this little fellow was causing quite a commotion among the flamingos at a local park, spring fever no doubt!

we often come across them on our golf estates, they're quite skittish and duck into the bush before you can get close to them.

Yes...I missed a week. No...I don't really care. I haven't hardly been online at all. Just kinda muddling through my days. The added noise in this photo is so very much what my head feels like. Can't tell if I'm coming or going. So overwhelmed by life in general that I just take every moment for what it is right now. Today was beautiful. Definitely needed to get out of the house. Went for a long long walk down at the river. The sand I'm playing in will be covered by water as soon as the snow on the mountains melts. It was so nice to be out there...

This is week 9 of 52.

In the 52 weeks challenge, every one of my 52 photos will be taken by one of my kids. Either Mancub (16) or Little Boy (7). They get full reign of my camera (eeeeek) and do what they wish. All I do is pick the pic, edit and post it.

Flowering Dogwood at Davey Dogwood Park.

It is the state tree of Virginia and state flower of North Carolina. It is a common ornamental landscape tree that offers something nice throughout the year. The tree provides showy white flowers in spring, rich green foliage in summer, bright red leaves in fall and red berries relished by birds and animals all winter..

The white petals of the dogwood flower are actually leaf-like growths called bracts rather than true petals. The actual flowers are in the cluster at the center of the dogwood bloom. The showy bracts can attract pollinating insects to the flowers. .

I have searched for the name of this particular butterfly for quite some time.

I shot this in the Butterfly house in Callaway Gardens. So it is no doubt an exotic. Whatever it's name, I found it truely beautiful. It reminds of a summer day, and the greens that abound that time of year. Everything is brown and barren. I am longing for the greens to return. HBW everyone!!

HPPT - Spring!

It's been coming and going and coming and going. Warm, cold, warm, cold. Sunny, rainy, cloudy, sunny. It's even supposed to snow today. I hate the Spring transition! But I looooove Spring!! It's my favorite! <3

... It’s spring fever… That is what the name of it is… And when you’ve got it… you want… ohhhhhh… you don’t quite know what it is you do want… but it just fairly makes your heart ache… you want it so…. ~ Mark Twain ~ .... (Try this one enlarged...)

Woke up to about 5 centimeters (two inches) of snow, argh! Our poor flowers are so confused, they don't know what to do. I feel sorry for the rufous hummingbirds that have migrated from Mexico and started arriving this past week. I'm pretty sure a snowfall in April is a record for us here on the west coast of British Columbia. I guess this is Mother Nature's April Fool's joke...not funny!

I think these are plum tree blossoms...does anybody know?
